Mohawks is delighted to share the news, that three of our Women’s Premier League players have made the GB squad for the IWBF World Championships in Ottawa, Canada 🇬🇧🇨🇦🏀 The three include:
- Robyn Love (3.5): Robyn is a two time Paralympian, with 2 bronzes in the European Championships, and 1 silver in this very competition back in 2018. She is an incredible born athlete, making her international debut only one year after playing her first ever wheelchair basketball game. She is a dominant force on the court, renowned for her leadership and positive energy. A strong shooter with years of experience, we’re sure she’ll make her mark.
- Laurie Williams (2.5): Laurie is a 4 time Paralympian, boasting an impressive medal count across various international competitions, including 4 bronzes, two silvers and a gold. Having made her debut as a teenager, she exemplifies commitment and dedication on and off the court. A fast, dynamic ball handler with a cool head, she is a vital player in this GB squad.
- Alice McHaffie (3.5): Alice is making her senior tournament debut here, in what we believe is the start of a very exciting career. Alice has spent a lot of time at Mohawks, including playing for our Premier League team. Last season she left our national league side to go play professionally in France, returning for each WPL game. This big move allowed Alice to grow her game, and here she is, making her senior debut on the international stage. We’re sure she’ll smash it 💪🏼
We’ll be cheering on both the men’s and women’s squads at this tournament, with a little extra pride for these ladies, seeing three of our own on the world stage. Let’s go, GB 🇬🇧
