This week in our Being a Parent groups, the parents are talking about the importance of play and how it helps with our children's development. We talk about how parents can support their child/children through play and how it can lead to less tantrums and a less stressful family life.

You don’t need to be a “perfect parent” to come along.

Just a parent doing their best – like everyone else in the room 💛

This is not a course – it’s a group for parents who want space to talk, reflect and feel supported and learn from each other over 9 weeks.

We’d love to welcome you.

A little snippet of an exercise we do in our Being a Parent group (Week 1).

We want parents to see how important it is to look after themselves. Yes, we can feel guilty as parents when we do things for ourselves but if our own jug is empty, what is left to give to our children?

We celebrate Volunteers Week this week with our AMAZING EPEC Volunteers with a game of Shuffleboarding and a meal to go some way to thank them for the incredible work they do to support parents in their local communities. The time, compassion and relatability our volunteers give to parents in our Being a Parent groups make real difference to families and communities.

We are so grateful for all they give and how they empower parents to become more confident parents. You should be so proud of yourselves!đź’š

There is definitely no manual to being a parent (although don't we all wish there was!). We all have hard days and there are moments of joy that just cannot be explained. We are all aiming to be good enough and that's what Being a Parent is about for us 🥰.

Our Being a Parent groups are all about this, and parents sharing with other parents what's worked for them and truthfully what they found hard. We do this by accepting the beauty of everyone's difference and without judgement ❤️

In Being a Parent, we don't love talking parenting styles as we are all different and every child is different. We are just doing the best we can, whatever style! What do you think?

Wondering what sort of things we cover in the 9 weeks of our Being a Parent group?

Hear it first hand from parents that have been through it and what it has done for them and their families.

There's a reason this programme has been around for so many years and run across the country.

We are full for May 2026 but are running in September 2026 at Wythenshawe Children’s Centres and Crossacres Family Hub and Gorton Sacred Heart Family Hub.

No judgement. No pressure to talk. Just parents supporting parents.

Being a Parent is part of Empowering Parents, Empowering Communities – a programme used across the country to help parents feel more confident and connected.

But honestly? Most parents come because it feels good to talk to other adults who understand toddler life.
