STAY ALIVE! IT IS NOT YET OVER!
DAILY DOSE: DON'T DIE, DON'T GIVE UP!
Good morning, everyone.
Today's Daily Dose is taken from the book of John 5:5-9
The Bible tells us about a certain man who had been suffering from an infirmity for thirty-eight years. He was lying close to the pool of Bethesda, waiting for an opportunity to be healed.
This man was close to the pool of healing, but he had no one to help him into the water. Whenever the water was troubled, someone else would go ahead of him. He had been there for years, watching others receive their miracles while he remained in the same condition.
I can imagine how frustrating that must have been. I can imagine the mockery, the disappointment, and the pain of watching others receive what you have been waiting for.
My own dramatic expression of that scene is that, whenever the water was troubled, this man might have been crying, "Help me! Help me! Help me! Help me!"
But nobody seemed to hear him because everyone was busy trying to get their own person into the pool first.
Yet, in spite of everything, the man did not give up. He did not die. He stayed alive!
And on that fateful day, Jesus walked up to him and asked, "Wilt thou be made whole?"
The man could not even give a direct answer. Instead, he explained how he had no one to help him into the pool.
But Jesus spoke with authority and said to him, "Rise, take up thy bed, and walk."
And that was the word the man had been waiting to hear!
Immediately, the man was made whole. He took up his bed and walked.
My own dramatic expression of that moment is that, as the man stood up, every pain, every scar, and every evidence of his long years of suffering disappeared. Imagine the surprise of seeing yourself transformed after thirty-eight years of infirmity!
Beloved, DON'T DIE! DON'T GIVE UP! DON'T GIVE UP ON YOURSELF!
Your story is not over.
Let us also remember the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5:25–34. She had suffered for twelve years. She had spent all she had seeking a cure, yet her condition grew worse.
Imagine the pain, the disappointment, and the things people might have said about her.
But when she heard that Jesus was passing by, she did not remain silent. She said within herself, "If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole."
That was a leap of faith!
She pressed through the crowd. She pushed her way through until she touched the garment of Jesus, and immediately, the fountain of her blood dried up. She knew in her body that she was healed of that plague.
Jesus turned around and asked, "Who touched my clothes?"
Peter wondered why Jesus was asking such a question when so many people were pressing against Him.
But Jesus knew that this was not an ordinary touch. Someone had touched Him in faith, and power had gone out of Him.
Others were touching Him because they were in the crowd, but this woman came with faith and received her healing.
When the woman came forward and told Him the truth, Jesus said to her, "Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague."
Do you know what it means to be made whole? This woman, who had suffered for twelve years, received her healing. The condition that had troubled her for so long no longer had power over her.
Beloved, I have come to encourage someone today.
DON'T DIE! DON'T GIVE UP! STAY ALIVE!
The fact that you have waited for so long does not mean that your story is over. The fact that others have received their miracles before you does not mean that God has forgotten you.
The man waited for thirty-eight years. The woman suffered for twelve years. Yet, they encountered Jesus, and their stories changed.
Your own day of healing is coming. Your own day of deliverance is coming. Your own day of breakthrough is coming.
Don't give up on God. Don't give up on yourself. Keep your faith alive.
DON'T DIE! DON'T GIVE UP! STAY ALIVE!
You will surely testify!
