184 - City of Manchester Squadron - Royal Air Force Air Cadets 184 Squadron (RAFAC) is part of a youth organisation founded on the standards held by RAF The enrolment age for the Air Training Corps is 12 years and 8 months.

The Air Training Corps (ATC), commonly known as the Air Cadets, is a cadet organisation based in the United Kingdom. It is a voluntary youth group which is part of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets (RAFAC) and the Royal Air Force (RAF). It is supported by the Ministry of Defence, with a reserve RAF Officer, currently Air Commodore Keeling, serving as Commandant of the Royal Air Force Air Cadets. The

cadets and the majority of staff are civilians and, although a number of its members do go on to join the RAF or other services, the ATC is not set up as a recruiting organisation. The ATC has almost 33,000 members, aged between 13 to 20 years, within 950+ Squadrons. Its cadets are supported by a network of around 10,000 volunteer staff and around 5,000 civilian committee members.

The Royal Air Force Air Cadets is made up of two areas:


  • Air Training Corps - The ATC is the RAF's cadet force, divided into six regions, 34 wings and more than 900 squadrons within communities around the UK

  • Combined Cadet Force (RAF) - The CCF (RAF) is our section of the CCF which is made up of cadets from all three services, coming together in approximately 200 independent and state schools across the country
