The application window for applying to the Diamond Education Grant closes on 15th April 2026. If you or someone that you know wishes to apply you will need to go to our website and fill in the online form. Please make sure that you meet our criteria for funding. These grants change lives!

The Trustees of the Diamond Education Grant would like to send out a huge THANK YOU to the members of Soroptimist International Bridgend who raised £500 for the charity. This amount is roughly equivalent to half of the annual award for one woman and so we are thrilled to receive this extra funding. The DEG makes grants to women who are in need of financial assistance for educational purposes. The grants enable the women to enter or return to employment, or move to a growing industry, by acquiring new skills. The educational grants contribute to raising the standard of education among women, who may not otherwise be able to improve their circumstances, those of their family, or the community in which they live. This charity relies on your support for its funding. Donate today by

Following my post yesterday a number of people have messaged me to ask about how to obtain a 'sparkly lanyard' and raise money for the Diamond Education Grant charity. The photo accompanying this post has our bank and donation details. We still have a few lanyards left which would be £7 each to include postage within the UK. The more money we raise, the more women that we can give grants to for the next academic year. This month the President Elect of Soroptimist International Great Britain & Ireland (SIGBI) joins our board. The Diamond Education Grant was set up as a charity by SIGBI in 1972. The Trustees of the Diamond Education Grant would like to thank everyone who supported the charity by investing in a 'sparkly lanyard' at the end of the year. We were thrilled to see soroptimists and non-soroptimists wearing them for conference, for work, for phone holders and to add to the 'bling' as we headed into Christmas. We still have a few left, but we are pleased to announce that we have made £1828 through sales and donations towards the lanyards. Trustees are happy to come out and give presentations to organisations and clubs on the work of this charity. The trustees of the Diamond Education Grant would like to thank everyone who supported the DEG charity at the recent Soroptimist International Great Britain & Ireland (SIGBI) conference in Birmingham in November. A special thanks to who leaves our board as she has become the national SIGBI President. We welcome Kate Belinis to the board in her role as the new SIGBI President Elect. Trustee Claire Wilkinson was not able to be at conference this year and we missed her!!
