The Talleyrand quiz night has a Pride theme tonight sat neatly between Levenshulme Pride and the start of Manchester Village Pride over the bank holiday weekend.

As you probably already know Dolly Parton died today. She was an inspirational person, a wonderful singer and songwriter, humanitarian, philanthropist, actress and writer. She was someone who brought happiness to the world and made it a better place. She was also a strong supporter and defender of understanding for the LGBTQ+ community. She voiced genuine Christian compassion for all of us and stood as a beacon of love, understanding, hope, resilience, and tolerance for everybody, staunchly defending people’s right to be who they are. There may have been only one Dolly Parton but we need more people like her in the world.

The singer rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most beloved entertainers in the world.

A week ago we officially launched Levenshulme Pride with the opening concert from the amazing Levy Choir. Levenshulme Pride Organiser Jeremy Hoad was delighted when Hannah Spencer accepted his invitation to say a few words. Hannah talked about the challenges we still face, in particular trans people, and the importance of events like Levenshulme Pride to promote inclusion and diversity. Hannah has attended previous Levenshulme Pride weekends but it was lovely to welcome her back as our new Green MP for Gorton and Denton.
