The Federation of WWOOF Organisations (FoWO) was founded as a way for WWOOF organisations to come together and share common responsibilities including:

1. Support and promotion of the various existing national organisations by providing these with a previously non-existent coordinative network
2. Management of the trademarking issues
4. Management of www.wwoof.net website,
5. Management of WWOOF

in countries without a national WWOOF organization, as well as its website www.wwoofindependents.org. FoWO currently has the support of over 40 member countries that work together in the spirit of an international federation with democratic principles. Member countries are now regularly communicating between each other and sharing precious knowledge and information. In total, there are over 61 WWOOF national groups worldwide that gather over 10.000 hosts and 50.000 volunteers. https://linktr.ee/wwoof

🇬🇧 “A farm without animals feels rather poor and dull,” says Christina – a long-time WWOOF host.
On her farm, dogs, cats, hens, geese, and horses live side by side, each playing their part in the farm’s circular rhythm.
With a focus on permaculture and organic growing, WWOOFers help harvest everything from potatoes and onions to wild plants like nettles and ground elder – turning them into delicious meals together.
🌿 Here, people, animals, and soil meet in natural harmony.

“As first-time WWOOFers, we both came with little to no experience of how farming, let alone tropical farming, was conducted and no preconceived perceptions of what lay ahead.”

🌺 For five weeks, Zoe and Tom visited a WWOOF host farm in Tobago. Their experience was not only about farming, but also about immersing themselves in the island’s cuisine, culture, and community. They were hosted by Dr. Jennifer Bailey at her farm, an oasis abundant with fruit trees, herbs, vegetables, and walking trails.

“Key learnings and insights we will take from this trip are:

1. Climate change is a serious threat…
2. Technology and logistics strongly shape agricultural productivity…
3. Daring to dream – despite having little experience, we both surprised ourselves with what we were able to accomplish over the weeks….”

“2026 started in the best possible way!

After finishing my internship, I took some time during my well-deserved trip to Brazil to volunteer at an organic farm called Sítio Sou in Teresópolis, Brazil, which I found through

It was my first WWOOF experience, and it completely shifted my perspective. Being immersed in the daily work of an organic farm helped me understand how the food industry really operates. Learning about the harsh reality of conventional farming challenged many assumptions I had and pushed me to rethink my own habits and choices.

At the same time, it was deeply inspiring to witness alternative systems in action. Seeing how soil can be regenerated and ecosystems restored through practices like agroforestry was so powerful. It reminded me that agriculture can work with nature rather than against it, like we used to do many years ago.

This experience was truly eye-opening, both physically and intellectually, and it sparked a real change in me. I am already looking forward to volunteering on another farm through this platform!!”

is a non-govermental organisation and WWOOF Independents in Rwanda, producing several types of vegetables, fruits, animal products, and medicinal herbs for their community.

“We give some of our harvests to the people in the community. Besides this, we give some of our food to a nearby school. The work in the fields will give you the possibility to meet local people from the villages and maybe to learn with them some words in Kinyarwanda. The Cooperation Members with whom you will WWOOFing are really open-minded and every time interested and happy. You will see how life is in little villages in Nyanza.”

Thank you for being a host with WWOOF and making a direct positive impact in your local community!

“If you have the chance to know what maple syrup tastes like, after you tap the tree, put up the bucket, wait for warm weather, wait for the bucket to fill, haul the tap, boil the tap and then sip on warm syrup... consider yourself lucky :)

If you have a functional body, be grateful, take care of it and use it. There are alot of wonderful things to do on this little rock…”

From reflections on the farm with host, ! 🍀

Mathieu runs a regenerative farmstead in the Appalachian region of northern New Brunswick with his family. They focus on rebuilding soil and biodiversity through practices like silvopasture, no-till gardening, and raising heritage breeds in forest-based systems. Their goal is to live in harmony with animals and land, and to help others learn how to do the same.😊
