💚 Bringing lived experience to the leadership table
Over the past two days, our Founder & CEO, Margaret Edet, has had the privilege of participating as a Resident Representative Lead in a cancer care simulation delivered with Macmillan Cancer Support and PPL.
Margaret brought a unique perspective shaped by lived experience — as a mother who has supported a child through childhood cancer, as a daughter and carer who supported her mother through advanced cancer, and as the Founder of Family Unit Trust, working alongside individuals and families affected by cancer in our communities.
Throughout the simulation, she contributed to leadership board discussions, ensuring that the voices and realities of residents remained part of conversations around cancer care, community support, inequalities and decision-making.
One message stood out strongly:
Cancer care must look beyond the diagnosis. It must support the whole person and recognise the impact cancer has on the entire family.
We are proud to continue using lived experience to help inform conversations, challenge barriers and advocate for more accessible, hol
istic and community-centred cancer support.
