If you work in early years education or childcare, book your place now!
Most of the children you work with will have men in their lives who are involved in supporting and shaping their learning.
But many of those men will feel secondary or even unimportant - not realising what huge impacts they can have.
It’s time for us to change that.
⭐FREE Alliance Connect⭐ Why dads matter - rethinking parental involvement in the early years
Tuesday 24 March, 6.30pm - 7.30pm
Research indicates that fathers and other male carers have a key role to play in their young children’s learning and development. But all too often this key learning resource is overlooked and underutilised.
The Early Years Alliance is partnering with the Fatherhood Institute to promote greater awareness and support for men in their children’s learning, both in the home and in settings.
The session will also introduce the Fathers Reading Every Day (FRED) programme, which encourages dads (including biological fathers, grandfathers and ‘social’ fathers such as adoptive, step-fathers and other men with a caring role) to read and provide other learning support for 10-15 minutes per day for 4-6 weeks (depending on the child’s age).
Join Kathy Jones from the Fatherhood Institute and Michael Freeston from the Alliance to find out more about more about this essential topic, and how your setting can acknowledge, support and encourage participation from dads and male carers.
