Have you been thinking about getting a Gender Recognition Certificate? Are you unsure what the point of one is after the Supreme Court decision in April? Would you like some help with the process of getting one?

We’re running a workshop at Islington Mill next week to cover all this and more! We’ll be talking about what getting a GRC can help with, how applying for one works, and will have volunteers on hand to help you begin the process of applying for one.

Withington Pride is returning for a 3rd year on Saturday 20 September 2025

Withington Pride is the area’s annual LGBTQ+ community festival - celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride and the place we call home.

Their broad range of free and low-cost public programming makes space for inter-community connections to be celebrated and strengthened, while contributing to the creative ecology of Withington and centring the artistry of the city’s q***r culture.

They aim to offer something for everyone, you can expect collaborative activism in the form of arts and crafts, a parade, trials of strength, solidarity and silliness at the Sport’s Day, some of Manchester’s finest q***r collectives, musicians and selectors.

If you would like to attend, volunteer or just want more info, head to their page

A huge thank you to who have donated an incredible £1080.79 from the profits made from the Hello Darling Q***r Club Night on 12th July.

We truly appreciate the amount of work that went into organising this event, as well as all of the DJ's and all who attended the event. All money raised goes directly towards our work in distributing resources and providing support to trans and non-binary people in Greater Manchester.

In solidarity,

What is Mutual Aid?

Transexuals! You may have noticed the world is on fire, and you may want to do something about it. Come to our workshop on August 10th at Social Refuge from 2-4 for a discussion of community work and what we can build together.

Come to get involved in the work that TMAM already does, and shape it for the future.

This is not a lecture! Bring your ideas, bring your skills, bring your needs, your hopes, your desires, your wishes. Help each other, get the help you need.

Yet another survey open for participation!

A student researcher (Mairi Johnston) at Loughborough University is conducting a study on crime, safety, and inclusion in Manchester’s Gay Village. This is a project exploring how gentrification affects perceptions and experiences within q***r spaces.

This is a short online survey (5–10 minutes) for individuals aged 18+ who have visited the Gay Village more than once. The survey is entirely anonymous and has full ethical approval from Loughborough University.

They are also looking to speak with people who have worked in or been closely involved with the Village for 10 years or more - such as venue staff, business owners, or local community workers. To take part in this, email: [email protected]

BE HEARD - YOUR EXPERIENCE MATTERS

The recent UK Supreme Court ruling defines “sex” strictly as the one assigned at birth, even for those with a Gender Recognition Certificate. This survey aims to gather personal stories to highlight the real-life impact of the ruling across the UK and present these testimonies to MPs, ensuring that those most affected are heard.

It is open to people of all genders—if you’ve ever had to think twice about which toilet to use, your experience matters.

Please head to or link in bio to complete the survey!

** This post has been edited and re-uploaded to be more inclusive and reflective of the trans community. Thank you for those who provided feedback.

Dear Friends,

This is the darkest day any of us could have expected.

We do not have words to describe what this means for us, and we cannot find words strong enough to condemn what has been done to our community this morning by those who do not understand us, do not care about us, and will do nothing to protect us.

But what we can say is this: YOU ARE NOT ALONE

You may be asking: "what do I do?" And whatever your answer, all I ask is do not do it alone. We will fight as a community, we will survive as a community, we will look after our own, even when no one else will.

You will hear a lot of talking today. You will hear people say "it's not that bad", you will hear people say "it is the end", you will hear people say "you must do something."

I will not add to this noise, but only to say, do not do so alone. Be with your community.

If you are not in our community: listen. Do not speak over those who have seen their rights stripped away this morning by callous hands.

We will be here tomorrow. I will be here tomorrow. You will be here tomorrow.

Let us begin our work together.
