About Joshua
Josh aka SuperJosh was a very happy normal 3 and a half year old when he was diagnosed with his tumour; lifesaving brain surgery left Joshua in a coma for 3 months before he then started his recovery in rehab – the complicated surgery due to the location of the brain stem left him with complex physical needs, epilepsy, scoliosis, joint problems and an acquired brain injury. Since the
n we have been on an incredible life changing journey and we hope that our journey, experiences, rewards and challenges in the hope that we can help other families in their journey and share our learnings along the way. Within 6 months of surgery the tumour had returned and as further surgery wasn’t an option, Joshua started an 18 th course of Chemotherapy which to date has frozen the tumour growth and allowed Joshua to start development post surgery. Post surgery, Josh is no longer able to communicate vebally but has cleverly developed his own form of communication using simple signs and facial expressions; to Josh ‘thumbs up’ is Yes and thats where Thumbraisiers & our logo comes from. Joshua requires care and support for all his needs and aspects of daily life, but we focus on his positive abilities, along with his cheeky personality, smiles, determined drive and happy outlook on life – ensuring Joshuas leads a full and fun social and as normal a school life as possible. Joshua now 13, has severe neuromuscular disabilities & the level of care needed requires a fully adapted home & specialist equipment .Despite the daily challenges he faces, Joshua continues to make the world smile.
