It’s with great sadness that we share this news of the passing of Chris Carney, former Captain of the 53rd Manchester company.
Chris is now at peace, after passing away on Tuesday.
His work and dedication in his company and over 60 years in the BB has left a huge gap that will be hard to fill, but it will never be forgotten the number of young people’s lives that he has changed and developed not only in BB but also in the football life in Salford.
As a Battalion please remember Chris, his friends, company members and his family at this time on your parade nights.
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our former Captain, Chris Carney.
He played a huge part in shaping 53rd Manchester into the Company it is today. A great friend to the Boys’ Brigade, he was a tireless advocate for young people and dedicated so much of his life to supporting, guiding, and inspiring others.
Through Chris’ encouragement, influence and unwavering support, many young people who came through the doors of 53rd have gone on to play for Salford Victoria FC, with friendships formed at BB continuing to flourish. These friendships and opportunities are a testament to his belief in young people and the importance of community.
His influence reached far beyond 53rd, helping to shape the lives of so many young people and adults across Salford. The legacy he leaves behind will be felt for generations to come, through the people he encouraged, the values he lived by, and the community he helped to build.
We send our love and prayers to his family at this time, especially his wife Janet and daughter Rachel.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. ❤️
