Maltby Unites to Create an Easter Celebration to Remember
It’s amazing what can be achieved when a community comes together — and this Easter, Maltby showed just how powerful that spirit can be.
Over 200 children and their families gathered on Easter Monday for a completely free event organised by local community group Maltby Together. Thanks to the incredible support from local people, businesses and volunteers, it was a day packed with laughter, entertainment, and community pride.
The day wouldn’t have been possible without the generous contributions of many.
Food Aware CIC kindly donated Easter eggs, snacks, and toys, captured in a wonderful moment featured in the Rotherham Advertiser. Jake Richards MP showed his support with some Easter egg donations, while Maltby Town Councillors — Donna Sutton, Jennifer Andrews, Keith Stringer and Pauline Heaps — gave their time and resources to help throughout the event.
Local businesses stepped up too. Fiveways Convenience Store Maltby provided Easter eggs for the children’s dance-off competitions, and Julia Jones from Tesco donated Easter eggs and additional support. Bill Spilsbury also kindly donated Easter eggs to the event.
Entertainment was at the heart of the celebration. DJs Mike Stark and Lewis Ainsworth delivered a brilliant disco at a reduced rate to support the charity. Face painting was provided by , who also gave their services at a discounted cost to ensure children enjoyed free face painting throughout the day. A huge thank you also goes to Charlotte, the Easter Raving Bunny, who volunteered her time to keep the kids smiling all afternoon!
A special mention goes to Lees Decorating Service - Professional painter and decorator, who not only funded the DJs but also provided additional Easter eggs, sweets, chocolates and sponsored the raffle prizes.
Maltby Together themselves ensured no child was left out, donating free-from Easter eggs for children with allergies — another thoughtful touch that shows the group’s real care for the community.
Thanks must also go to Gordon Waterhouse and the amazing team at The Slip - Maltby Progressive Club for hosting the event and supporting every step of the way.
The success of the event, now featured in the Rotherham Advertiser, proves just what can be achieved when passionate people and organisations work hand-in-hand to support their community.
Maltby Together, alongside all of these amazing partners, made sure that the children of Maltby had an Easter to remember — filled with fun, joy, and unity.
