It's not unusual for me to visit a church and exit with a rather sad statue. So on Saturday I embarked on Sacred Heart no.3! By Monday I had discovered the maker, Salvatore Marchi, an Italian sculptor working in Paris, 1860s. I also had to reconstruct the base! Work continues!

Most of the statues restored over the last few months have been returned to their niches and pedestals, and thanks to generous donations, a trolley has been purchased to ease the pain of lifting! Tomorrow the remaining Madonna will return to Pluscarden abbey.

It's eight years since Angels Unlimited began, on the eve of the feast of the Guardian Angels 2018, and today I began the task of repainting St Joseph and the Holy Child. This has been gifted to Our Lady of Mt Carmel church in Banff, and I will be working in situ.
We began our acquaintance today by testing paint!

I have based the identity of the black statue on Blessed Anne of St Bartholomew, who was the companion and nurse to St Teresa of Avila. She has no scapular or rosary. A humble soul who rose to glory by founding Carmelite monasteries in France and Belgium.
