After a few hours of uncertainty I manage to restore a little more grace to the left hand of Mary..and after the days of nativity, the finishing touches are done in the warmth of my living room!
Hopefully she will return to the University chaplaincy on the first day of 2026.

Mary has arrived from Aberdeen University chaplaincy for a facelift ... No major work, just a clean and polish, to remove years of smoke from candles.

St Joseph begins a journey from Aberdeen University for some tlc, on a dark and snowy November night

These beautiful figures, made by someone who signed only as SH, arrived in a sad state.
I have tried hard to restore them to their original colours, glueing and filling as required. Many repairs had been carried out over time, but it was interesting to note that eight out of the nine figures had had their heads reattached!
They are now ready to make the long journey back to the Orkney Islands in plenty of time for Christmas.

Diversifying slightly with a picture frame from the depths of antiquity. Small repairs, a clean and paint, respectful of its provenance. Finished on the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
