Great news 🙌🏻

🏛️ Lytham Assembly Rooms looks set to stay in the hands of the people who've cared for it for decades.

Fylde Council's Executive Committee has backed plans in principle to transfer the freehold of the Grade II listed building to Lytham Town Trust - the charity that's run it since 1991 and invested over £400,000 in repairs and improvements over the past decade 👏

A dreadful decision! We’ll be discussing what next steps can be taken this evening.

Reviewed and considered the evidence…are they blind? The Government has just approved the wind farm corridor. 😡

I am as stunned as I am angry to learn the government have today approved the M&M Windfarm Cabling Corridor.

The evidence in front of them (I’ve written to the PM and Ministers several times, so they have it):

❌ One of the two operators have pulled out saying it’s not commercially viable
❌ Therefore no company to pay for half of the works 🤦🏻‍♂️
❌ There is a more appropriate alternative route that would save hundreds of millions
❌It’s in the top ten most objected to projects in the whole country
❌It will needlessly destroy mile of mile of coastline and countryside

So what have they actually considered?

I will be working with Fylde council, the residents group and others to consider the next steps.

A very busy weekend again in Lytham St Anne’s, with fantastic Kite festival in st Anne’s and the Lytham International Film Festival at various venues across Lytham and St Anne’s, what a wonderful place to live! 🙌🏻

RESHUFFLE: The mission Kemi has set is clear, cut the benefits bill and get Britain working.

Even today Burnham said he was going to cut the benefits bill by *spending more* 🤦🏻‍♂️

Labour is now The Welfare Party.

I am ready to get stuck in, and delivering the Conservative plan to get benefits spending under control, and get people back into work.

Fylde has performed strongly in the latest Community & Engagement Survey 2025/26, with results that reflect the area’s consistently high quality of life and strong community identity. The survey demonstrates Fylde Council’s success in achieving its established vision to “be a place where people choose to live, work and raise a family; retire and feel safe; visit and want to return.”

The survey shows that residents in Fylde report:
• Higher than average pride in the local area
• Strong attachment, with many wanting to remain living here over the next five years
• High overall satisfaction with Fylde as a place to live
• Above average satisfaction with the facilities and amenities they use
• A clear willingness to recommend Fylde as a good place to live

These findings underline Fylde’s reputation as a well regarded, attractive and resilient place supported by strong communities, a high quality environment and a positive sense of belonging.

What an amazing weekend here in Lytham for the 1940's event. It gets better and better each year. Well done to the team at Fylde Council who bust a gut ensuring this weekend is always successful.
Councillor Andrew Redfearn & Councillor Peter Anthony were out and about enjoying the atmosphere.

Well done to the amazing Redfearn Sisters (daughters of Councillor Andrew Redfearn and our Town Crier Kila Redfearn) who entertained the troops on Friday evening as part of the NHS Blue Skies fundraising evening 👏 👏👏👏.

Also, a special shout out to Agatha the 1930s Morris 10/4 which belongs to Councillor Peter Anthony. She is always there each year to greet the crowds with her vintage charm.
