So a great evening of fun last night - Painting and Prosecco with friends to celebrate International Women's Day with Emmeline Pankhurst as the subject of our painting and an interesting input on Mary Wollstonecraft who was an English writer and philosopher best known for her advocacy of women's rights. She was the mother of Mary Shelley, the famous author of Frankenstein and died at the age of 38 not long after her birth. Mary Wollstonecraft is regarded as one of the founding feminist philosophers, and feminists often cite both her life and her works as important influences. Lots to think about, plenty of frienship and some impressive first paintings to boot! Many thanks to tutor, Nick Kowalski for his brilliant class and also his colleague Chris for the input on Mary W. A suitably enjoyable and informative event - here's to the next one!
