Sorry for the radio silence, but we have been regrouping and trying to find a suitable date for the next Empty Bowls, which we would like to be a special one in memory of the founder of Empty Bowls, our beloved Jules. We think that week commencing 9 September would be a great date to kick off the next soup week, with all monies raised going to the local food bank, New Forest basics Bank. Please can you email me on [email protected] if you are able to donate some beautiful bowls this time? I would like to get a feel for numbers etc so I can make the right arrangements for the venues. What a brilliant evening. Jules would have been proud. Over 50 people joined together showing their love for Jules, buying items of her absolutely stunning studio pottery and in so doing supported the New Forest Basics Food Bank: a charity that Jules tirelessly championed through the Empty Bowls campaigns. Funds raised at the close of play: £1557!!!! Special thanks to Bobs at The Tinkers Granddaughter for hosting the event and treating us all to bubbly and fabulous vegan nibbles. What a truly magical evening. Thank you everyone. 💕💕💕

A lovely write up and a reminder to all that this wonderful event will give us such a great opportunity in a fabulous venue to share our love for Jules.

A popular New Forest ceramist will be remembered at a celebration evening and pottery sale which will raise money for the New Forest Basics Bank.

It has been over 6 months since we tragically lost beautiful Jules. During that time we have pulled together to see how best we can honour her legacy with the Empty Bowls campaign moving forward. As a starting point we would like to invite you all to a small gathering to remember Jules with an opportunity to purchase some stunning items from her own studio. This will give us all an opportunity to meet up, share our stories and gather together ideas and thoughts about how best to take forward Jules's working with the project. The sale of any works on the night will go to the food bank, which is exactly what Jules would have wanted. Please can you RSVP on here if you would like to make the gathering date. Thank you.

We at Empty Bowls are devastated at the news that Jules, the founder and creator of Empty Bowls, passed away on New Years Eve after a short battle with an aggressive cancer. We all send our love and support to her family and fiends. We will of course continue with the project by way of a legacy to all Jules represented...her altruistic and caring qualities will stay with the project and we will strive to keep this momentum going for as long as we have volunteers and potters. The event planned for the Spring is currently on hold, and but we will regroup and send out further communications once we have had a chance to process all that has happened.

RIP Jules Carpenter...you are so very loved and missed.

We have been quiet, but we are still here, we want to fundraise to help and are looking and the next big event to be spring next year.
Our wonderful community of potters and ceramic artists will be asked once again to make an extra bowl or two or mug for us to sell, the generosity and range of beautiful bowls never fails to stagger us!

As news unfolds we shall let you know. We need to firm up info about a possible Christmas sale and arrangements for the main event 2023, for It is clear donations are still very much needed…

"I'd love this place to be full of dust & mice.." our Chairman Oli commented on the TV news this week when asked about the future of Foodbanks. The recent cost of living payments are a help but there are no quick fixes to ensure everyone has access to food & basics. The Basics Bank continues to be critical to the well-being of many families and individuals in crisis in the southern New Forest.
