Rumster Outdoors Management Committee would love to hear from outdoor activity providers. We have enquiries from groups wishing to use the site but asking about activities in the area.
If you have a business providing outdoor activities and would be able to provide those activities on site we would love to hear from you.
If you would like to join the team to help provide outdoor experiences to users of the site, we would also love to hear from you.

The Rumster Outdoor Centre was opened on the afternoon of 23rd August by Viscount Thurso. The event was attended by the committee, funders, members, friends and guests. Caithness could not have provided better weather for the event.
Willie Marshall, chairman of the Rumster Outdoor Centre Management Committee thanked Lord Thurso for opening the centre and thanked the committee for their work to have reached this point. He also thanked previous committees without whose dedication and persistence the project would have collapsed many years ago.
Thanks was also given to the funders of the building, NRS Dounreay, Baillie Windfarm, RWE Renewables and Watten Windfarm.
Visitors then viewed inside the building and had an opportunity to chat with the committee about how the building can meet their needs. The afternoon was rounded off with a barbeque and some musical entertainment from Pete and Chris Nichol.
The building is on the site of the old Rumster Outdoor Centre which was destroyed by fire in the late 1990s. It provides a shelter for any groups or activity providers who wish to run events in the forest.
Enquiries can be made by email to [email protected], through the website at Contact Us – Rumster Forest Outdoor Centre or by sending a message through the Rumster Outdoors page.

The Rumster Outdoor Centre Management Group are delighted to announce the completion of an outdoor classroom in Rumster Forest on the site of the old outdoor centre.
The centre will be officially opened on Saturday 23rd August at 2pm by Lord Thurso.
The building is a focal point for activities in the forest whether educational, recreational or health related.
Potential user groups or activity providers are invited to come along to the opening on Saturday 23rd between 2-4pm
Members of the public are also welcome to see what is available and what the site has to offer.
Weather permitting there will be a barbecue available but as there is no requirement to book it is a “bring your own food” bbq. We will provide the heat.
The building can be accessed from the Achavanich-Lybster road via the mast car park. You can either walk from the car park (approx 15-20 minutes), cycle or drive.
There will be extra traffic on the forest track so please drive with care and keep speed down to 10mph.
