So Warrington Council don't think the huge Tritax development will affect them. Obviously they don't think Croft, Culcheth, Winwick, Hermitage Green count as part of 'them'.

At Full Council this evening, I asked the Leader whether Warrington Borough Council would consider formally opposing the proposed Tritax Intermodal Logistics Park North, as Labour-led Wigan Council has already done.
The response was that there is currently insufficient evidence for Warrington to take a position either way.
I find that disappointing.
Having spent considerable time examining the proposals, I believe there is already substantial evidence to justify a clear position of serious concern.
We already know:
-The development proposes approximately 767,000mยฒ of warehousing.
- Significant HGV movements would affect the A49 and Winwick Link Road.
- Land within Croft Parish is identified for soil redistribution and earthworks.
- There are major concerns about cumulative traffic from Parkside and thousands of proposed new homes.
- Tritaxโs own assessment estimates over 500,000 tonnes of COโ equivalent during construction.
Warrington also declared a climate emergency in 2019, making the environmental consequences particularly relevant.
Of course, further evidence is needed before reaching a final decision but there is a difference between awaiting detailed assessments and declining to take any position at all.
Residents in Winwick, Croft and surrounding communities deserve clarity about where their Council stands.
The development may be centred outside Warrington, but its impacts certainly wonโt stop at the borough boundary.
I will continue pressing for answers.
