⚽ A MIXED BAG FOR THE CASUALS! 💚🖤

A trip over the border into Norfolk for both sides this weekend, with contrasting fortunes!

⚫ FIRST TEAM | GORLESTON 2-1 CASUALS

A game that could have gone either way! A missed penalty proved costly before a questionable free kick in the dying minutes found Gorleston’s long shanks to sn**ch all three points. A tough one to swallow, but plenty to take forward!

🟢 OLD BOYS | GY 2-5 CASUALS OLD BOYS

A slow start and an early setback gave the Old Boys the kick up the backside they needed! A penalty save from Cutler and a Scotty Woodcock hat trick helped secure the points, with a much improved second half showing what this squad is capable of.

League football takes a back seat next weekend as both sides turn their attention to the League Cup! A fresh challenge, knockout football and everything to play for.

Both squads head into Norfolk tomorrow for league action.

The Casuals 1st finally get their first league run out, despite already sitting on six points! The lads face a Gorleston FC side unbeaten in the league so far. A proper test awaits and this has all the makings of a cracking battle.

The Casuals Old Boys head to Great Yarmouth Town, looking to bounce back from a frustrating league draw and bring all three points home.

There’s more to Casuals life than league and cup football. We’ve got a couple of dates for the diary before 2026 is out. 🟩⬛️

⚽ Tuesday 27 October: A friendly against Pakefield FC under the lights at Walmer Road. Floodlit games are a rare treat for us vets these days. How the lads with cataracts will cope is another matter. Kick off is 19:00.

🍸 Friday 4 December: Our Bond themed Xmas Ball at the clubhouse. A chance to finish the year together and thank the WAGs who put up with the football, the group chats and the mysterious injuries that only appear when there are jobs to do at home. Smart attire, 19:00.

Casuals 4–5 Waveney | County Cup

Nine goals, a sin bin and a proper battle against last year’s cup winners. Newrick’s lovely lob and an Ally Mac penalty put us 2–0 up, but Waveney fought back to lead 3–2. Ginge’s screamer sent us in level at 3–3.

Waveney took control after the break and went 5–3 up while Ginge served his sin bin. Pat converted a late penalty to make it 5–4, but we couldn’t find the equaliser.

A cracking game, followed by a packed clubhouse full of vets and WAGs from both sides. Fair play to Waveney and good luck in the next round.

COUNTY CUP WEEKEND 🏆

This weekend our First Team remain in County Cup action as they welcome Waveney FC to Walmer Road.

Our Old Boys will not be competing in this season’s County competition following the club’s decision to withdraw and accept the associated fine.

This decision wasn’t taken lightly. We have raised our concerns regarding the current County Cup structure and, in particular, the way North and South divisions are used to determine competition allocation despite significant differences in their respective league structures.

We fully respect that changes cannot be made once this season had begun. However, we felt strongly enough about the issue that simply continuing without making our position clear wasn’t right for us.

We hope our withdrawal contributes to a constructive review of how North Suffolk veterans teams are allocated in future seasons.

For now, attention turns to Sunday.
