An organisation celled "The Glorious Gravel" is running a major cycling event this weekend. Rides will start and finish at Bakewell Showground and it appears that there will be large numbers using the Monsal Trail on both days.

In addition on Saturday a smaller group, taking part in a 202km ride, will come off the trail at Longstone Station, pass through the village before heading up Moor Road. They'll cross the moor towards Wardlow before doubling back around Blakedown Hollow and then going down Coombe Dale towards Stoney Middleton.

We know we have asked before but does anyone recognise or own this cat?

We think it is a ‘he’ and is a regular visitor to our garden to steal the food we leave out for our feral cat. Due to its poor condition, we tried to catch it last year to take it to a vet, but to no avail.

He is now visiting in the daytime which is new and always seems ravenously hungry so we assume he is a stray and are thinking we should try again to catch him so he can be assessed and treated.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcomed.

Some glasses have been found on the pavement on Main Street. They have been left on Spring Bank’s sign.

Starting this Tuesday! 9:30 - 11:30 at the village hall. Friendly, local stay and play group for babies, toddlers and preschoolers and their carers. No need to book, pay as you go. £3 per family, includes snacks for the littles and drinks for the adults. We would love to see you there.

Sheffield Morris Men plan to walk from Great Longstone along the trail, performing dances through Headstone Tunnel. They will then dance on the Monsal Viaduct before climbing the steps to the top and performing again outside The Monsal between 12:30 and 1:30.

After this they'll walk back to Great Longstone for a 2pm performance at The Crispin.
