More than 400 young people from across the UK and Ireland came together this July to attend the annual youth conference. Participants reflected on what it means to live a life of purpose and contribute to the wellbeing of society.

Through conversations, study, music, sport, creativity and acts of service, they explored questions of friendship, community and social change. What forces are shaping the lives of young people today? What does it mean to contribute to a community? How can young people work together to build a more just, united and hopeful society?

The conference offered a vision of young people not simply as facing the challenges of today, but as protagonists in shaping what comes next.

Thank you to the Sunday programme for highlighting the story of Mahvash Sabet, a Bahá’í educator and poet who has spent years imprisoned in Iran because of her faith.

The programme features former prisoner Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, who spent almost a year alongside Mahvash in Evin prison, and Bahiyyih Nakhjavani, who translated Mahvash’s memoir, Open Wide the Doors, into English.

Nazanin remembers Mahvash as “the softest soul in the world”, reflecting on her kindness, patience and resilience in the face of persecution. Listen to the full segment on BBC Sounds. Link in Bio 🔗

115 parliamentarians from across Europe have issued a joint statement expressing deep concern over the treatment of Bahá’ís in Egypt and calling on the Egyptian authorities to fully uphold freedom of religion or belief.

The statement highlights the barriers Egyptian Bahá’ís continue to face, including the inability to register their marriages, difficulties obtaining mandatory identity documents, denial of burial rights, and other forms of discrimination.

Egyptian Bahá’ís seek only the same rights as their fellow citizens: to live in peace, obtain valid identity documents, register their marriages, and bury their loved ones with dignity.

The report Work, Wealth & Wellbeing: A Collective Reimagining of Social Cohesion, shares insights from a series of roundtables that brought together voices from academia, civil society, faith communities, and local government to explore how work, wealth, and wellbeing shape our collective life.

Across these conversations, four organising principles emerged:
• Value
• Purpose
• Participation
• Collaboration

Together, they offer a framework for strengthening social cohesion and creating the conditions in which individuals and communities can flourish.

A wonderful launch event for the release of our report, Work, Wealth and Wellbeing: A Collective Reimagining of Social Cohesion, took place on Monday at the Houses of Parliament.

It was a pleasure to share insights from the roundtables and the report, and to facilitate a panel conversation with Prof. Nava Ashraf, Dr. Brian Grim, Miria Papasfrouniu, and Dr. Mohammad Ahmad.

Together, the panellists reflected on how individuals, communities, and institutions can work collaboratively to strengthen social cohesion by creating the conditions for meaningful participation, shared prosperity, and human flourishing. Their contributions highlighted the importance of social and economic structures that recognise the inherent capacity of every person to contribute to the common good.

We are deeply grateful to all the friends, colleagues, and partners who joined us for the event. Thank you for your engagement, thoughtful contributions, and commitment to advancing this important conversation.
