Rabbi Yitzchak Dovid Grossman established Migdal Ohr in the early 1970’s with the aim of aiding at-risk children and youth in Israel through the creation of an educational network and of a warm, supportive environment for children in need as well as for newly immigrated children. Migdal Ohr’s nationwide educational network includes dozens of day-care centres, preschools, primary and secondary scho

ols, ‘ulpanot midrashiyot’ (religious educational institutions for girls), vocational schools and academic institutions, boarding schools, foster homes and after-school clubs. The children enrolled in these programmers come from both religious and secular backgrounds, some are native Israelis while others made Aliyah, and they represent every ethnicity and diaspora community. Some are residents of Migdal HaEmek, while others come from every part of Israel. Migdal Ohr provides a warm, supportive and loving home in every way possible, from accommodation, meals, clothing and health services to vocational and academic training, educational opportunities and cultural activities as well as the instilling of Jewish and Zionist values.

As a former Migdal Ohr student, Isaac experienced firsthand the life-changing impact of our support. After overcoming significant challenges, including a devastating motorcycle accident and a long road to recovery, he has transformed adversity into purpose and now dedicates his time to inspiring others and giving back to the community that helped shape his future.

His story is a powerful reminder of how hope, support, and a second chance can change a life.

Many of the children arrive at Migdal Ohr after incredibly difficult and unstable childhoods, often having moved through multiple temporary placements or unsafe home environments. Unfortunately, our facilities are now overstretched and demand continues to grow significantly, particularly following the trauma and instability many families in Israel have faced over recent years.

So, what exactly is a Mishpachton?

At Migdal Ohr, our Mishpachtonim are family-style foster homes for children who cannot remain with their biological families due to neglect, abuse, poverty, or instability.

Each home is led by dedicated house parents who care for 10–12 children with warmth, structure, and love.

For many children, this is the first time they experience:

💙 a safe bed
💙 homework support
💙 family outings
💙 emotional care
💙 someone waiting for them at home
