Part of the wider charity organisation SexpressionUK, UCL Sexpression is a student-led sex and relationships education project.

Part of the wider charity Sexpression:UK (sexpression.org.uk registered charity number 1166559), UCL Sexpression is a student-led relationship and sexual health education programme. Our aim is to provide quality and up-to-date information on sexual health and relationships. We believe in empowering young people to make knowledgeable and informed choices about their sexual and reproductive health.

UCL was the first branch founded in 2000. You can get involved as a year 1 medical student taking our SSC or via the Volunteering Services Unit (VSU) of Student's Union UCL

This Sexpression, SIHS, and QTPOC event brings together participants for a discussion and interactive workshop on decolonising reproduction and contraception. It explores how colonial legacies continue to shape reproductive healthcare, particularly for marginalised and inclusion health groups, with a focus on maternal health and ongoing inequalities. Participants will engage critically, share perspectives, and reflect on more inclusive approaches to reproductive justice.

In honour of LGBTQIA+ History Month, we’ll be doing a screening of the documentary “Beyond Stonewall”, which illustrates the journeys of trailblazing gay pioneers in the objects they left behind.

Contraception has had a longstanding history in association with eugenics and fears of population control. In this discussion we will be exploring the impact colonisation has had on our bodies and how we practice “safe” s*x. We will look at the significance of decolonisation and how this relates to contraception.
