International Disability Day Observed by Apasen International
International Disability Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and heartfelt unity as Apasen International joined the Social Welfare Department of the Government of Bangladesh, Sylhet Division, in organising a vibrant and inclusive event. The occasion brought together learners, families, teachers, government representatives, and members of the wider community to honour the abilities, talents, and contributions of persons with disabilities.
The day began with a colourful rally, where participants marched through the streets holding banners, flags, and handmade artworks created by Apasen learners. The rally symbolised solidarity, awareness, and the shared vision of building a society where every individual— regardless of ability— has equal opportunities. The energy of the learners was contagious as they walked proudly alongside teachers and volunteers, receiving smiles and applause from onlookers along the route.
One of the highlights of the event was the Cultural Performance presented by Apasen learners on the main stage. Supported by Apasen staff and encouraged by the audience, the learners showcased their talents through music, dance, and drama. Their performance reflected hours of dedication and preparation and demonstrated how creativity can serve as a powerful platform for empowerment. The applause that followed was a beautiful reminder that ability shines brightest when given a chance.
Throughout the day, the venue was filled with colourful activities— art displays, interactive games, inclusive sports, and collaborative workshops. These activities allowed learners to express themselves freely while engaging with participants from diverse backgrounds. Visitors admired the artwork created by Apasen students, appreciating the imagination and emotion behind every piece.
Government officials from the Social Welfare Department praised the efforts of Apasen International, acknowledging their continuous commitment toward promoting inclusive education, rehabilitation, and social participation. They emphasised the importance of community partnerships and encouraged organisations to work hand in hand to build a more inclusive Bangladesh.
The event concluded with the distribution of appreciation certificates to performers and participants. Smiling faces, heartfelt connections, and renewed commitments filled the atmosphere as everyone recognised that inclusion is not just a concept—it is a collective responsibility.
International Disability Day, observed in collaboration with Apasen International, stood as a meaningful reminder that every individual has extraordinary potential. The celebration in Sylhet echoed a powerful message: when we embrace diversity and provide equal opportunities, society becomes stronger, more compassionate, and more vibrant for all.
