Ghana YMCA Green Ideas Project Ambassadors Embark on Joint Advocacy Effort
A team of five climate change Ambassadors from the Kpone Bawaleshie branch of the Ghana YMCA has launched a joint advocacy project to educate young people on the devastating impact of plastic waste on climate change. The initiative, led by Henry, Karen, and Redeem, aims to reach over 3,000 community members and key stakeholders in the plastic value chain.
The advocacy effort kicked off with a successful community engagement event, which attracted:
- 50 students
- 2 teachers
- YMCA branch executives
- Hon. George Nuertey Ahinguah, Assembly Member of the community
- Winifred Goku, a branch Chair, Kpone Bawaleshie YMCA.
- Samuel Asamoah, Programmes Director, Ghana YMCA
The Green Ideas Project Ambassadors are committed to:
- Raising awareness about the effects of plastic waste on climate change
- Promoting sustainable practices and behaviors among community members
- Engaging key stakeholders in the plastic value chain to advocate for change
The initiative is led by the Ghana YMCA and supported by the YWCA-YMCA Sweden.
This partnership demonstrates the commitment of both organizations to addressing the critical issue of plastic waste and its impact on climate change.
