Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh

I am a retired General Practitioner with many years of experience serving the community in Poole, Dorset. During my career as a GP Partner, I learned the importance of teamwork, sound governance, and responsible financial management. At that time, GP practices were responsible for managing NHS budgets, giving me valuable experience in allocating resources effectively and ensuring that public funds were used wisely and efficiently.

Alongside my clinical work, I was a GP Trainer with the Wessex Deanery and a Faculty-approved Sexual Health Trainer. These roles enabled me to mentor and develop young doctors, helping them build successful careers founded on high professional standards, strong work ethics, and integrity.

I later joined the Professional Support Unit at the Wessex Deanery, where I supported doctors in training who were experiencing difficulties. This role strengthened my ability to listen with empathy, understand different perspectives, and help individuals overcome challenges to achieve their full potential.

I also served as Chair of the Burmese Doctors and Dentists Association UK until taking on the role of Chair of Gandawin Harmony Trust. These leadership roles have further strengthened my experience in governance, teamwork, and serving the wider community.

Throughout my professional life, I have been guided by the principles of compassion, honesty, accountability, and service. I hope to bring these values, together with my experience in leadership, governance, education, and financial stewardship, to Gandawin Harmony Trust.

If elected as a Trustee, I will work collaboratively with the Board, Executive Committee, and members to help establish, strengthen, and develop GHT into a sustainable and respected charity, always remaining true to its original charitable purposes and the communities it serves.

I believe that strong governance, transparency, and mutual respect are essential to the long-term success of any charity, and I am committed to upholding these principles in serving Gandawin Harmony Trust.
Thank you very much.

—————

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
My name is Mr Tin Oo Lwin, and I am honoured to stand as a candidate for the position of Trustee of Gandawin Harmony Trust.

As a father, grandfather, and long-serving member of our community, I have always believed that the greatest legacy we can leave behind is a community united by faith, compassion, and service. Our responsibility is not only to care for one another today but also to create a better future for our children and grandchildren.

I am proud that Gandawin Harmony Trust is the first Myanmar Muslim Trust established in the United Kingdom. It represents the hopes, sacrifices, and unity of our community and stands as a milestone that we should all be proud of.

I sincerely believe that Gandawin Harmony Trust is one of the greatest achievements of our Myanmar Muslim community in the UK. It would never have become a reality without the vision, commitment, and countless hours of voluntary service given by many dedicated brothers and sisters. I would like to express my deepest appreciation to everyone who has contributed their time, effort, and support to establish and develop this Trust. Because of their dedication, we have a strong foundation. It is now our duty to preserve that foundation, strengthen it, and ensure that Gandawin Harmony Trust continues to grow and serve future generations.

I believe that unity is our greatest strength. Guided by the teachings of Islam, we should always treat one another with respect, kindness, and understanding. By working together with sincerity and good intentions, we can achieve far more for our community than we ever could as individuals.

As we look ahead, I hope Gandawin Harmony Trust will continue to grow into a respected and trusted organisation. While our primary responsibility is to serve the Myanmar Muslim community, I also believe our future should reflect the universal values of Islam by extending compassion and humanitarian service to all humanity, regardless of race, nationality, or faith. In doing so, we can strengthen friendships, promote understanding, and make a positive contribution to the wider society.

If I am honoured with your trust, I will serve with honesty, humility, integrity, and dedication. I will listen to our members, work closely with my fellow trustees, encourage and support the next generation of leaders, and do my utmost to ensure that Gandawin Harmony Trust remains strong, united, and continues to benefit our community for many years to come.

Thank you for your trust, your support, and your prayers.

As Joint Secretary of Gandawin Harmony Trust, I am pleased to share the biography and mission statement of Trustee Candidate Dr Hla Win for the 2026 Trustee Election.
Thank you for taking the time to read his profile.

Joint Secretary

—————

Assalamu Alaikum
My name is Dr Hla Win. I was born in Minhla, Tharrawaddy District, in February 1942 during the Japanese occupation of Burma and was brought up in Yangon. My maternal grandparents were originally from Aunglan, in central Myanmar. From a young age, I developed a passion for learning and a desire to serve others through medicine.

I attended St. Anthony’s Boys’ School before entering Rangoon University in 1961. I later continued my medical education at Medical School 2, Yangon, graduating as a medical doctor in 1969.

I began my medical career in Myanmar’s National Health Service, serving for three years as a Township Medical Officer in Mansi and Kamaing in Kachin State. I then spent five and a half years as a Civil Assistant Surgeon at North Okkalapa Hospital in Yangon. These years gave me invaluable clinical experience and strengthened my commitment to delivering compassionate healthcare to communities in need.

On 31 December 1978, I moved to the United Kingdom to continue my medical career. During my first five years, I worked in hospitals across different parts of the country before settling in Broadstairs, Kent. I later served as an Associate Specialist in Community Paediatrics until October 2008. Following this, I continued working as an Emergency Physician in the Accident and Emergency Department at Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital, Margate, until my retirement in March 2020. Working across two countries and two healthcare systems broadened my professional experience, strengthened my adaptability, and deepened my understanding of caring for people from diverse backgrounds.

Alongside my medical career, I have always believed in giving back to the community. I am a founding member of the Burmese Doctors Association UK (BDAUK) and served as its Secretary for two years. I also served as a Regional Representative for the Myanmar Association UK, helping to strengthen professional relationships and support the Myanmar community in the United Kingdom.

I have been happily married for more than fifty years and am blessed with three daughters. After many years in Kent, my family and I moved to London, where we now live in the Canary Wharf area. Throughout both my personal and professional life, I have been guided by the values of integrity, humility, and selfless service.

⸻

Mission & Vision

I believe that a strong community organisation is built on honesty, transparency, teamwork, and mutual respect. My vision is to use my lifetime of medical, leadership, and community experience to help strengthen Gandawin Harmony Trust and support its long-term growth for the benefit of present and future generations.

If elected as a Trustee, I will work solely for the progress of the Trust without seeking personal benefit. I am committed to acting with integrity, avoiding conflicts of interest, and serving our community with fairness, dedication, and compassion.
Thank you

Assalmu Alaikum
My name is Tun Myat Tun, and I am honoured to stand as a candidate for the position of Trustee of Gandawin Harmony Trust.

I am a businessman with more than 20 years of experience and the owner of F&Z Bedding, F&Z Homeware, and Mandalay Bedding, all located at Edmonton Green Shopping Centre, London N9 0TT. Since establishing my first business in 2004, I have worked tirelessly to build and grow these successful retail businesses. Today, our businesses proudly employ 10 dedicated members of staff, providing quality products and excellent customer service while contributing to the local economy.

Over the years, managing multiple businesses has given me valuable experience in leadership, financial management, strategic planning, customer service, and team development. These experiences have strengthened my ability to make sound decisions, manage responsibilities effectively, and work collaboratively with people from all backgrounds.

None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of my wife, Yee Mon Win, who has stood beside me 100% from day one. Her encouragement, sacrifices, and belief in me have been the foundation of our success and have helped us achieve everything we have today.

Together, we are blessed with two sons, Faiz Tun and Zaid Tun. Our eldest son, Faiz Tun, successfully completed a three-year degree in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Cambridge. Our younger son, Zaid Tun, has successfully completed his GCSEs and is now pursuing his A Levels. As a family, we believe in the importance of education, hard work, honesty, integrity, and giving back to the community.

Throughout my business career, I have always believed that success carries a responsibility to support and serve others. These values have inspired me to stand for election as a Trustee of Gandawin Harmony Trust.
