The **UK Association for Biotechnology and Computational Science (UKABCS)** is pleased to announce its strategic collaboration with **Helora** as an **Industrial Partner** supporting the **UKABCS Capacity Building Grants** programme.

Through this partnership, Helora will contribute an **In-Kind Donation** by providing access to specialised digital platforms, advanced scientific tools, and technical resources that will support participating universities and research teams throughout the programme.

📢 UKABCS Official Announcement – Launch of the Second Graduation Project Capacity Building Grant 2026

Following the outstanding success of the first funding round, the UK Association for Biotechnology and Computational Science (UKABCS) is pleased to officially announce the launch of the Second Graduation Project Capacity Building Grant 2026.

This initiative is dedicated to supporting third- and fourth-year undergraduate students by transforming traditional graduation projects into AI-driven computational research projects, while providing scientific mentorship, research infrastructure, and financial support.

We are also delighted to announce that Bioinformatics Gate joins this initiative as the Industrial Partner, providing scientific training, computational research infrastructure, and advanced Artificial Intelligence tools to participating teams.

Grant Duration

The programme will run for three years, supporting 20 research teams each year. Each team consists of 10 undergraduate students working on one graduation project.

Funding

✅ £3,000 in research funding for each approved graduation project.

✅ £1,200 per year will be provided directly to the Principal Investigator (Main PI) to support academic supervision and project implementation throughout the programme.

The remaining project budget will be administered by the funding body in accordance with the grant guidelines.

Number of Teams

- Up to 20 research teams may be supported per participating university.
- Each team consists of 10 students working collaboratively on one graduation project.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

- Belong to an accredited university or higher education institution.
- Submit the Principal Investigator's Curriculum Vitae (CV).
- Complete the official Application Form.
- Provide an official Institution Endorsement issued by the university, faculty, or Head of Department.
- Commit to implementing the annual programme, including the supervision and completion of up to 20 graduation project teams each year.
