🌟 CYPAN Volunteer Spotlight: Charlie Roy (CR7) 🌟
From fear to faith, from chaos to change one man’s heart and a football team have transformed an entire community. 🙌⚽
Our amazing CYPAN Volunteer, Charlie Roy, has been living in Dabayoma, a small community between Kwaini and Scratch in Alotau. When he first moved there, the area was known for crime and unrest his family was even held up several times. But Charlie never gave up hope. He prayed, forgave, and believed that God would bring change. 💫
This year, local youths formed Daba Brothers FC to join the Alotau Soccer Association 2025 competition. Many of them were once feared in the community, but Charlie saw their potential. He trained with them, encouraged discipline and teamwork, and reminded them that football can build respect and unity.
Their hard work paid off Daba Brothers FC won 3rd place! 🥉Charlie was invited as one of the Guest Honours at the presentation, where he shared a powerful message with the youths:
“Unite, because unity is our strength. Change your mindset, because true change starts from within.”
Today, Dabayoma is a changed place peaceful night, smiling families, and youths who now go to church and live with purpose. 🙏
Charlie says:
“We can’t wait for leaders or police to fix everything. Real change starts right here with us, our families, and our communities.”
