We're official! launched on Sunday night! Through the scheme, and supported by , we will welcome a refugee family to Tower Hamlets. Community Sponsorship is a proven, successful, community-led, route to resettlement and integration in the UK, and provides a real alternative to people seeking sanctuary having to take dangerous journeys to get here. Community-led resettlement also helps reduce pressure on the Local Authority by building local capacity, whilst allowing Tower Hamlets residents to demonstrate their heart for compassion and welcome. This will be the third family resettled in through Community Sponsorship, and the LA has always been very supportive. We were really pleased to be joined by Nicola Mutale, refugee and asylum coordinator at Tower Hamlets Council () who kindly agreed to take part in a Q&A panel at our launch event at .
