Today is World Su***de Prevention Day, and this year’s theme is Changing the Narrative. For over two decades Changing the Narrative around su***de has been a key part of Maytree’s mission - and will once again be a core part of our mission when we reopen later in the year.

By providing those who are experiencing suicidal crisis a place of respite, care, and nurture, along with the attention of compassionate and non-judgemental volunteers, Maytree guests are given the opportunity to speak about and reflect on their lives and what has brought them to this moment. Whilst the time limited stay Maytree is a once-in-a-lifetime offer, it can be fundamental in helping those who are facing a suicidal crisis, change the narrative around their lives and suicidal ideation, and can be a key component in enabling recovery.

The Maytree team is continuing to work hard to reopen our house, so we can once again provide respite, nurture and support to those who are experiencing suicidal crisis. Renovations of our house are well underway and we are hoping to reopen our doors later in the year. If you would like to volunteer with us when we reopen, please email [email protected] to express your interest.

We are also continuing to fundraise for our renovation and re-opening costs via our Justgiving page. If you are able to support this campaign either through a small donation or through sharing this post, we would be hugely grateful.

We have been working hard to reopen our house in the autumn. But before we are able to do that we need to carry out some essential refurbishing and redecorating on our house - and we need your help to enable us to fund the work! We would truly appreciate a donation to enable us to restore the house to being a calm and nurturing sanctuary, ready to welcome our guests once again.

If you would like to make a direct contribution to the redecoration work - and read more about what we shall be spending the money on - please click here:

Maytree is once again able to receive donations via our page on the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) website. If you are interested in financially supporting Maytree as we rebuild, a donation via our CAF Page would be hugely appreciated and will be critical as we work towards reopening our doors again. (We are also working to get our Justgiving page up and running as soon as possible.)

Maytree is blossoming again. Work is underway to re-open the doors of our house in North London & once again provide much needed respite for those in suicidal crisis.

The work to rebuild Maytree is being led by a small team of former volunteers, staff, guests and mental health professionals who know the value of the service Maytree provides and what was being lost when Maytree was forced to close its doors.

We are now working together to re-build our essential service at this time of great need, but we need your help.

Volunteers and community have always been at the heart of Maytree and that will be even more the case as we seek to re-build. If you are interested in getting involved in any way no matter how big or how small, please e-mail [email protected]

Please spread the word and watch this space for more updates.
