CIFF is a long-standing supporter of The Global Fund. That's why we joined our partners in London this week to share why investment in global health is one of the best opportunities to create a future where children can thrive.

Earlier this year, we pledged $200 million to the Global Fund replenishment, a five-fold increase on our last commitment. These funds will accelerate prevention of HIV, close the testing gap for Tuberculosis, and support integrated services for the most vulnerable.

The Global Fund has a track record of turning innovation into impact through its strong partnership with governments, civil society and the private sector. As put by CIFF's CEO Kate Hampton, "These health solutions, these innovations, just wouldn’t get to market without the leadership of the Global Fund."

There are millions of reasons to invest in the Global Fund. 70 million for each of the lives saved by the Global Fund to date.

A major step forward for women's reproductive health and choice 🌍

The World Health Organization (WHO) has granted prequalification to the first generic self-injectable contraceptive. This is a healthcare breakthrough that will help expand access and autonomy for women and girls globally.

The product, developed by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd., is discrete, empowering, and will help make self-injectable contraceptives more affordable and accessible. More than 250 million women globally, primarily in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), still have an unmet need for modern contraception. Diversifying the supply of methods is vital to expanding contraceptive choice.

We're proud to have supported the development of this option, alongside the Gates Foundation.

How can data-driven digital tools support power utility management in Africa, and help incentivise the green transition?

We’ve been working with energy leaders, policymakers, power utilities and innovators to develop African-led solutions to help make energy management work more effectively – exploring dynamic tariff options, such as time-of-use tariffs, solutions for intermittent renewable resources such as wind and solar, and beyond.

This work is foundational to systemic transformation towards clean and resilient growth in Africa. Financing electrification in Africa requires innovation and a variety of approaches and funding types - so it will also require a variety of partners to work together to find solutions.

Last month, CIFF convened 30 leaders in this field from Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania and Uganda in Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania, to cover:
➡️ Scaling e-cooking and e-mobility to boost intermittent renewable energy consumption.
➡️ Advancing smart power grids & demand-side intervention & decision-making.
➡️ Unlocking budget-neutrality for system operators through financing for grid connections and efficient appliances.
➡️ Generating evidence to support policy & regulatory reforms.

As ACS2 closes, we invite partners, investors, energy and stakeholders across the sector to join us in exploring “business unusual” approaches to accelerate electricity access for Africa.

As the second Africa Climate Summit continues in Addis Ababa, Africa's leaders, climate stakeholders and global partners are working toward a unified African vision on climate ahead of COP30. At CIFF, we are focused on what that vision must deliver in practice: a future where climate investments transform the daily lives of children, families, and communities across Africa.

This visual story follows Neema through key moments in her life—born into a climate-resilient health system, nourished by sustainable agriculture, protected by adaptation measures, and empowered by clean energy and safe transport.

A climate-resilient Africa means enabling every child to grow, learn, and lead in a world that is not only surviving climate change, but shaping the solutions to it. This is the long-term impact we must invest in, and the kind of future we are committed to.

Integrating immunisation and nutrition is a game-changer. That's why we were thrilled to pledge our commitment at the Gavi Summit last week, continuing our focus on integrating health, nutrition and technology.

Alongside our partners (GiveWell and Arm) we intend to co-invest $35 million in solutions that combine innovative health and nutrition models, AI-enabled digital tools and in-country capacity strengthening for scale and sustainability.

At , CIFF brought together leaders from across sectors to discuss one of the most powerful yet underutilized drivers of economic growth: Africa’s women and girls. But the conversation should not stop there.

Closing gender gaps could add $316 billion annually to Sub-Saharan Africa’s GDP.

Women control 70% of consumer spending and make up 58% of self-employed entrepreneurs.

Investing in women is not charity, it is smart business.

In a new op-ed, Faustina Fynn-Nyame, Myriam Sidibé argue that private sector engagement is essential to unlocking Africa’s full economic potential.

Meet Fatou Fall.

Fatou is from Koki, Senegal, and was diagnosed with having advanced stage Trachoma, a neglected tropical disease which if left untreated, can cause irreversible blindness. This short film follows her journey alongside medical teams and local partners as she works to save her sight and reclaim her livelihood. This story highlights the holistic approach required to combat NTDs and restores hope to what can be achieved when working alongside dedicated partners.

As we approach World NTD Day, there will be emphasis on elimination and eradication of these diseases at a large scale. However, we must also not lose sight of the individual human lives that can be changed with this work.

Thank you to Fatou for allowing us to follow her personal journey and a thank you to the Ministère de la Santé et de l'Action sociale, Sightsavers, Gates Foundation, The ELMA Philanthropies, Virgin Unite, Speak Up Africa and the all the key health workers, for the continued efforts to help tackle these diseases. At CIFF, we will continue to work towards a world free of Trachoma and all NTDs.

Our second event at Davos, hosted in partnership with Brands on a Mission, brought together CEOs, government leaders, and civil society representatives for a focused roundtable discussion on how investing in African girls is a pathway to sustainable growth and societal resilience.

Investing in girls may be a long-term effort, but it is one of the most impactful commitments we can make. When girls rise, communities thrive.

The discussions also reinforced the role that brands can play in challenging the structural barriers and norms that exist for African women and girls. We need to avoid perpetuating harmful stereotypes and instead ensure that narratives about African girls are accurate and powerful.

At CIFF, we envision a world where investments in evidence-based, impact-first initiatives for African girls and women are the norm. We invite all sectors to join us in partnerships that unlock the unparalleled potential of Africa’s girls.
