🌿 Friday gardeners were taking advantage of the recent rain to deadhead the Stachys, also known as Lamb’s Ear.

It’s easy to do: follow the flowered stem down to the base and cut it back with secateurs. This tidies the plant ahead of the changing seasons. 🌱

🌟 Incredible things have happened this summer at Community Vision Children and Family Centre! 🌟

πŸ₯” Potato people came to life
🏰 Colourful components of a new Crystal Palace were built
🎨 Kitchen cupboard ingredients became paintings
πŸ¦– And finally, clay-seeded dinosaurs took over!

Over 40 people joined us each week to get creative during the summer holidays. πŸ’œ

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Children and families had fun
🀝 Caught up with friends
😊 Met new people
πŸ’‘ Learned through playful making

This was all made possible through Creative Club, run by Invisible Palace, with funds raised by players of People's Postcode Lottery and awarded by Postcode Society Trust. πŸŽ‰

πŸ™ Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this summer so creative!

What a treat to be back in the park with walk leader Andrea Clayton Vail for another Secrets of the Sculptures walk.

For the first time, we were able to stand right in front of the sculptures on the Upper Terrace β€” something we’ve never been able to do before as they were previously fenced off.

Cleaning has revealed details that have been hidden for years, repairs will even mean a name change for one of the sculptures!

A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped bring these stories back to life.

πŸ’œ The benefits have been remarkable.

For seven years, Invisible Palace's Defy Gravity social circus programme has helped local children discover the joy of circus arts in partnership with My Aerial Home. πŸŽͺ

Since 2019, thanks to support from the Mayor of London and The National Lottery Community Fund, hundreds of children have had the chance to build confidence, learn new skills and discover what they are capable of. ✨

Although our current funding is coming to an end, Defy Gravity will continue next year on a much smaller scale. We remain committed to making circus accessible to local children and young people.

We're incredibly grateful to the families who have been part of the journey. One parent recently shared:
"The benefits have been remarkable. Her confidence and self-esteem have grown significantly, and her resilience and endurance have strengthened. Her belief in herself cannot be overstated. Because of the confidence she has gained through circus, she has taken part in other school events, including representing her school trust in an annual choir concert."

Stories like this remind us why opportunities to be creative, active and take positive risks matter so much.

Thank you to everyone who has helped make Defy Gravity possible. πŸ’œ

What a difference a Friday morning makes. 🌿

Thank you to our Friday gardeners, who completed deadheading the Euphorbia at Jubilee Gardens in Crystal Palace Park. The garden is looking refreshed despite the lack of rain.
