South London charity Invisible Palace believe arts, heritage, and green activities should be available, affordable, and accessible to all.

We fundraise to host events that make this happen. Invisible Palace create accessible and welcoming activities where a broad range of people can come together through shared interests for collective activity. We believe in a place where arts, heritage, and green activities are available, affordable, and accessible to everyone. Working across the five boroughs of Bromley, Croydon, Lambeth, Southwark and Lewisham, in the neighbourhoods that surround Crystal Palace Park. Our Registered Charity Number is 1165888

Get your hands on some clay! 👐 We'll get it fired for you.

Join us on Monday 28 September at 11am at the Paxton Centre on Anerley Hill for a relaxed, social making session.

This month, you can join us to make pinch pots from earthenware clay. Perfect if you've never tired clay. Get in touch to book a space.

You can also drop in on the day to:
• Help make bags of duck food, raising funds for Invisible Palace
• Bring along your own portable making project
• Enjoy a welcoming, collaborative space

Refreshments: free for duck food makers and half price for clay and crafts people.

Our next Secrets of the Sculptures walk on 27 September sold out straight away! 🎟️

Over the next few weeks, we’ll share a few snippets for anyone who didn’t manage to get a ticket.

First stop: Psyche Abandoned.
Tucked away behind the bus station, this statue has a story that takes us from Crystal Palace to the marble workshops of Carrara in Italy.

Psyche is a carved copy of a much smaller sculpture by Italian artist Pietro Tenerani. But who carved the version that came to the park?

Researchers who took part in our sculptures project discovered that many of the Victorian carved statues that once stood in the park were most likely made by Francesco Bienaimé, whose family were highly regarded marble copyists from the Carrara region.

Friday gardeners noticed that we seem to have reached peak purple in the Vicar's Oak beds. 💜

The fantastic drought-tolerant Aster amellus ‘Forncett Flourish’ is stealing the show, while Perovskia ‘Blue Spire’ is really attracting the bees. Salvia is slightly taking over, Caryopteris ‘Heavenly Blue’ is being its usual understated self, and down at the Museum, Liriope muscari is providing another pop of purple.

A restricted palette, with plenty to enjoy. 🐝

Back to school for many children today!

After-school clubs can make a real difference to young lives, providing opportunities to learn, have fun and try something new — without putting extra pressure on family budgets.
Our long-running Circus Skills Club in Penge is carrying on this year, thanks to funds raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery and awarded by Postcode Society Trust.

We’re delighted to be able to keep this affordable opportunity going and give local children the chance to develop new skills, build confidence and, of course, have fun!

What a gorgeous morning to be in Jubilee Gardens.

A busy morning for volunteer gardeners, with plenty of deadheading and tidying to do, alongside time to enjoy the beautiful setting and catch up with each other.

What a summer it’s been at Community Vision Children and Family Centre!

Potato people came to life, colourful components of a new Crystal Palace were built, kitchen cupboard ingredients became paintings, and finally, clay-seeded dinosaurs took over!

Over 40 people joined us each Tuesday for Creative Club during the summer holidays. Children and families got creative, caught up with friends, met new people and learned through playful making.

Creative Club is run by Invisible Palace, with funding raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery and awarded by Postcode Society Trust.

A huge thank you to Carlos Cortes, Ella Phillips and everyone who joined us and helped make this summer so creative!

🌿 Friday gardeners were taking advantage of the recent rain to deadhead the Stachys, also known as Lamb’s Ear.

It’s easy to do: follow the flowered stem down to the base and cut it back with secateurs. This tidies the plant ahead of the changing seasons. 🌱
