Today, Members of the Royal Family will gather at Westminster Cathedral to remember the life of The Duchess of Kent.

In 1961, The Duchess married The Duke of Kent, cousin of the late Queen Elizabeth II, in York Minster. Together, they had three children and ten grandchildren.

Proudly of Yorkshire heritage, Her Royal Highness became a working Member of The Royal Family following her marriage, and in 1977 she was created a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO).

For the last three decades of her life, The Duchess focused on her passion for music, stepping aside as a working Member of The Royal Family in 2002 to focus on her private and charitable work in this sector.

The Princess Royal has been in Northern Ireland, where she joined a Garden Party at Hillsborough Castle to meet extraordinary people invited in recognition of their public service.

Her Royal Highness also presented 106-year-old veteran, Norman Irwin, with a B.E.M. for his voluntary work in his hometown of Coleraine.

Norman joined up at the outbreak of the Second World War serving throughout the war and is the last living founding member of the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.

The Duchess of Edinburgh has been in Alberta in Canada this week! 🇨🇦

🐴 Highlights of the visit included attending the Spruce Meadows Masters Tournament, of which The Duchess is Patron, meeting young people at the Youth Centres of Calgary, and joining riders and volunteers at the therapeutic riding charity Opening Gaits.

HRH also spent time with representatives from Canadian Indigenous communities, veterans, and learnt about the life-changing role of service dogs with the charity PADS.

🤝 The Duchess met with Vice-Regal Representatives and, while in Edmonton, the South Alberta Light Horse Regiment, of which she is Colonel-in-Chief.

Thank you, Canada, for such a warm welcome and for sharing so much wonderful horsemanship, music and culture.

🏥 The Brachytherapy Department at Leicester Royal Infirmary and their new state-of-the-art Thornton Suite. The new facility will support the treatment of gynaecological cancers with a specialised form of radiotherapy.

🏛️Jewry Wall Museum, where technology brings to life one of the largest surviving Roman structures in Britain.

⛪️ Leicester Cathedral, where he saw the completed restoration work and newly opened Heritage & Learning Centre, as well as the Tomb of King Richard III.
