A huge thank you to eBay and Give to Get for supporting Refugee Action Kingston through their fantastic volunteering event in Richmond.

Our Legal project manager, Ruba, attended on behalf of RAK and shared information about our work supporting refugees and people seeking asylum across southwest London. Volunteers then spent the morning preparing a large number of donation and gift packs for people supported by our services.

We are incredibly grateful for the time, care and generosity shown by everyone involved. These practical donations help us welcome and support individuals and families as they rebuild their lives in safety.

Thank you for standing in solidarity with our community. 💙

It was wonderful to welcome Dr Debbie Weekes-Bernard, London’s Deputy Mayor for Communities and Social Justice, to Kingston earlier this month and showcase the amazing work happening across our community.

Over a delicious volunteer-prepared lunch, local organisations including Refugee Action Kingston and Migrant Advocacy Service came together to share how we are working alongside Kingston Council and residents to support people seeking sanctuary.

The Deputy Mayor also visited the community warehouse and the beautiful Green Roots Fund-supported community garden, seeing first-hand how local partnerships, volunteers, and community projects are helping people rebuild their lives and feel at home in Kingston.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for making Kingston such a welcoming borough. We are proud to be part of a community that believes everyone deserves safety, dignity, and the opportunity to belong.

💚 Together, we are making Kingston a place of sanctuary for all.

🌍 This International Youth Day, we’re celebrating the strength, potential and contributions of young refugees and asylum seekers.

With the right support, young people can find their voice, build confidence, make connections and play an active role in their communities. 💜

At Refugee Action Kingston, we believe young refugees and asylum seekers are not just people who receive support- but they also have skills, ideas, experiences and voices to share.

Today, we celebrate young people for what they already bring to our communities. 🧡

This summer, we were delighted to welcome two students and thank them for their work experience at Refugee Action Kingston.

In our latest blog, they reflect on what they learned from supporting our English classes and spending time with our clients. From helping with translations and language learning to hearing powerful stories of resilience and hope, their experiences show how volunteering can change perspectives and build meaningful connections.

We're excited to be part of a city-wide effort to support young Londoners this summer. ✨

Funding from London's Violence Reduction Unit is helping us provide more activities, trusted adults and positive opportunities for young people during the school holidays when support matters most.

Through the Stronger Futures programme, we will be delivering our award-winning Bright Futures project supporting young refugees and children seeking asylum in Kingston.

Here's to a summer of connection, confidence and opportunity.

📖 75 Years of the Refugee Convention

This year marks 75 years since the 1951 Refugee Convention—a landmark international agreement that established the rights of refugees and the responsibilities of countries to protect those fleeing persecution.

Today, the Convention remains as important as ever.

Behind every policy and legal framework are real people: individuals and families forced to leave their homes because of war, conflict, persecution or violence, seeking safety and the chance to rebuild their lives.

At Refugee Action Kingston, we see the impact of this every day. We support refugees and people seeking asylum to navigate complex systems, access advice and opportunities, build confidence, and become active members of our community.

The Refugee Convention is about more than protection. It is about dignity, safety, and the opportunity to rebuild a future.

💙 As we reflect on this milestone, we remain committed to supporting refugees to thrive, contribute and belong.

🎉 We did it! 🎉

💙 £10,140 raised
💙 100%+ of target achieved
💙 Countless lives impacted

Thanks to the incredible support of our community, we have successfully exceeded our fundraising target, raising £10,140 for our Financial Wellbeing Campaign! 💙

A huge thank you to everyone who donated, shared our campaign, cheered on The RAK Pack, and helped spread the word.

Special thanks to the Aviva Community Fund for their match funding support and to Crowdfunder for helping us bring this campaign to life.

Because of your support, more refugees and people seeking asylum will be able to access advice, support, education and employment opportunities to help them build stable, independent lives.

🚣‍♂️ And what a finish! Our Dragon Boat Race team placed 5th overall in the Mixed Category, helping us celebrate this achievement in style.
From everyone at Refugee Action Kingston: thank you for making this possible. 💙

What a day for The RAK Pack! 🚣‍♂️💙

On Sunday, our amazing team of staff, volunteers, supporters, community members and a Refugee Action Kingston client took part in the 2026 Kingston Dragon Boat Race Festival, and we're delighted to share that The RAK Pack finished 5th overall in the Mixed Category! 🎉

After weeks of training on the Thames, the team showed incredible determination, teamwork and resilience, helping make the day a huge success both on and off the water.

As one member of The RAK Pack put it:
"The race was challenging, exciting and inspiring. What made it special wasn't just being on the water—it was knowing that every paddle stroke was helping support refugees and people seeking asylum in our community. The team spirit was amazing, and I'm incredibly proud of what we achieved together."

And there was even more reason to celebrate...

🎉 Thanks to your incredible support, we also reached 100% of our £10,000 fundraising target!

This means more refugees and people seeking asylum can access:
✅ Welfare and housing advice
✅ Financial wellbeing support
✅ Education and employment pathways
✅ Community activities that build confidence, connection and independence

A huge thank you to everyone who donated, shared our campaign, volunteered, cheered us on and supported us throughout the past six weeks.

Special thanks to the Aviva Community Fund for providing match funding and helping us reach our goal.

Together, we've shown what can happen when a community comes together behind a common cause.

💙 Thank you, Kingston. Thank you, Team RAK. Thank you to everyone who helped make this possible.

🌿 What does nature mean when you're rebuilding your life in a new country?

For many people seeking sanctuary, green spaces offer far more than fresh air. They provide moments of peace, opportunities to connect with others, and a sense of belonging during an incredibly challenging time.

In our latest blog, contributed by Mara, we explore why Home Park has become such a meaningful place for members of the Refugee Action Kingston community, and how access to nature can help people heal, connect and thrive.

📢 We’re proud to stand alongside more than 200 charities and refugee-support organisations across the UK in signing an open letter calling for a more compassionate and constructive conversation about refugees and people seeking asylum.

At Refugee Action Kingston, we see every day the positive impact that welcome, dignity and community support can have on people rebuilding their lives. We also see the kindness shown by local residents who choose solidarity over division.

Together with organisations large and small, we believe that everyone deserves to be treated with humanity, respect and hope.

We are stronger when we come together to support our neighbours, challenge misinformation, and build communities where everyone can belong.

🤝 Proud to be part of the Together With Refugees coalition and this collective call for compassion and common ground.
