Creating thriving communities for people in Croydon starts with making every asset count.

Following Phase 1 of our 'Do More; Do Better' mid-strategy review, we’ve taken steps to ensure our assets and investments are delivering the greatest possible impact.

Alongside this, we’ve updated our investment approach to help secure long-term sustainability and continue meeting the needs of our beneficiaries - now and in the future.

We’re pleased to announce that applications are now open for our 2026 Grant Fund.

We award grants to Croydon's voluntary, community and faith sector who are supporting people experiencing hardship due to poverty, age, disability or other disadvantage.

In this new year, we continue to be in the privileged position of being able to invest directly in Croydon.

In 2025, our Croydon Almshouses Grant Fund (formerly Croydon Relief in Need Grant Fund) awarded £268,582 in grants to local community groups and individuals, supporting people through challenges and strengthening the voluntary, community and faith sector which delivers much needed support in Croydon.

Every grant awarded reflects our commitment to creating thriving communities where everyone can live with dignity and independence, and links to our Theory of Change outcomes:

➡️ Increased wellbeing

➡️ Reduced loneliness

➡️ Increased ability for people to manage their own lives

We are proud to be a grant funder in Croydon and we are looking forward to continuing this work and celebrating even more positive change across the borough in 2026.

As we look back on 2025, we’re incredibly proud of the positive impact we’ve made, not only across Croydon, but in our almshouse community too.

Acuity Research & Practice Ltd conduct our independent bi-annual Resident Satisfaction Survey which is a valued and important tool for us as a learning organisation. The feedback we receive enables us to continually adapt to the changing needs of our residents, making a positive impact for our community. It guides our work, shapes our priorities and keeps us focused on delivering support where it matters most.

⭐ We’re pleased to say that we consistently outperform national benchmarks! ⭐

Today, as we celebrate Mynde Founder’s Day and reflect on the legacy of Elis David, we’re delighted to announce the launch of our newly redesigned website.

Our updated website features:

We had a lovely time catching up with Kate and Jennifer at the South East Cancer Help Centre last month.

From group sessions and counselling to therapies and more, the Centre offers a safe and supportive space for people living with or recovering from cancer - as well as their carers.

During our visit, we spoke with some of the members who shared their inspiring journeys and how the Centre has made a difference in their lives.

It’s wonderful to see how our CRiN Grant Fund Award is helping even more people access these essential services.

⭐️Croydon Relief in Need Grant Fund Award⭐️

In 2024, our CRiN Grant Fund supported the incredible team at Smart Works, helping 1,052 unemployed women access the coaching, clothing and confidence they needed to secure employment and transform their lives.

After their appointments with Smart Works, beneficiaries reported:

• 97% felt more confident in their new outfit
• 96% felt better prepared to answer interview questions
• 95% felt more confident about succeeding at interview
• 95% felt clearer about what to expect
• 98% felt Smart Works had increased their chances of getting a job

Last week we dropped by The Lighthouse at St Francis, Monks Hill to see their lively youth club in action.

⭐️Croydon Relief in Need Grant Fund supports the youth club as part of the fantastic Youth Action for Monks Hill initiative ⭐️

Our Community Development Lead, Bec, enjoyed his time at the club: “It was brilliant to see young people laughing, connecting, playing and having fun, however, the downside to the visit was getting smashed at table tennis, FIFA and Connect 4.”

Huge thank you to St Francis Church for everything you do to support young people and the positive youth spaces you create.

⭐️Croydon Relief in Need Grant Award⭐️

In 2024 we awarded a grant of £4,760 to a wonderful community group

The group does great work in Croydon, providing a safe space for people from the Tamil community to meet, share experiences and learn new things.

Our grant supported the introduction of weekly yoga and talk sessions and wellbeing walks, promoting healthier lifestyles and improved community wellbeing.

As a result of these sessions, 80% of the Tamil beneficiaries reported:
• an improvement in mood and health 🧘
• an increased awareness of age-related health issues🫀
• they felt more socially connected and less isolated🫶

A wonderful day was had by all at our Annual Summer BBQ! 🌞💜

A big thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it so special.

Community is at the heart of everything we do at and days like this remind us just how strong and supportive our community really is.
