Discover the impact of Music Therapy at Shooting Star – Friday 12 June!

Shooting Star warmly welcomes you to our Open Day, where you will have the opportunity to meet with Henry, one of our Music Therapists and learn more about this service.

Music therapy gives children new ways to communicate, particularly for those who don’t use speech or find it hard to express their emotions. Sessions are often recorded, creating meaningful and lasting keepsakes for families.

Come and explore the space, discover the instruments we use, and see first-hand how music helps us connect, support, and care in such a powerful way!

Memory Making supports families to create treasured keepsakes, including hand and foot casts, prints, locks of hair, and memory boxes. The farm is a firm favourite with families, allowing children to meet some furry friends up close, in a safe and relaxed environment. With the weather being so beautiful, arts and crafts and snacks were taken outside for everyone to enjoy!

We’re delighted to welcome you to Shooting Star House in Hampton, our Outreach, Therapies and Family Support Centre. This Open Day is a great chance to explore our facilities, meet our amazing Family Support team, and learn more about the specialist care we provide to children, young people, and families living with life-limiting conditions or experiencing bereavement.

Discover how families access counselling, therapies, sibling groups, play sessions, and one to one support and see first hand the life changing impact of this work. Enjoy complimentary refreshments, browse stalls, take part in fundraising activities, and enter our raffle for fantastic prizes.

A huge shoutout to the incredible team of 25 trekkers from our corporate partner Barratt Redrow, who reached the summit of Snowdon at 5.55am - just in time for the most breathtaking sunrise. Their team spirit and determination powered them all the way to the top, and they’ve raised an amazing £22,000 (and counting!) to support children and families facing the unimaginable.

Special thanks to Simon and the team from SVL Adventures for another unforgettable trek🏔️🩵

We want to say a huge thank you to Garsons - Esher for supporting Shooting Star as their Charity of the Year🙌

Over the past year, Garsons have...

✨ Encouraged customers to donate via in-store collection pots and through JustGiving
✨ Hosted donation drop-off points
✨ Hosted supported families in their event space
✨ Welcomed us to their Christmas Members' Evening
✨ Created a heartfelt Christmas Memory Tree

And of course, helped to facilitate the donation of 250 Care Bears to our Guildford hospice, Christopher's, for children and families to enjoy.

Alongside all of these wonderful initiatives, they've raised a total of £2,000 for Shooting Star - so again, a HUGE thank you to Garsons🩵

More marathon celebrations are in order, as Gwen and Henry took on the London Mini Marathon on Saturday💪

With banners at the ready, a few members of our care team headed up to London to show their support. Gwen, who has been supported by Shooting Star since she was just 10 months old, came first in her category - go Gwen!

Bereaved sibling Henry and his family have been supported by us for over 3 years, and he completed the race in just 8 minutes and 49 seconds - a fantastic achievement!
