At the start of the year, Dom and Amy began a month-long physical challenge in memory of their daughter, Robyn, who was born on 2 March 2016 and died shortly before her first birthday.

To mark what would have been Robyn’s 10th birthday, parents Dom and Amy set themselves the “Racing for Robyn” challenge, themed around the number ten.

Amy, an avid runner, committed to running 10 kilometres every day for 30 consecutive days, and Dom opted for a multi-discipline challenge, completing the equivalent of ten triathlons across March. This meant swimming, cycling or running each day, with distances increasing at weekends to mirror sprint and Olympic triathlon formats.

By completing this challenge, they have raised an incredible £6,745 for Shooting Star and in memory of Robyn. What an amazing achievement💪🩵

A huge congratulations to Regina, one of our music therapists, for receiving a Big Heart Award from Fostering Together - for children with disabilities🏅🎶

Regina was nominated in recognition of the incredible support she has provided as Zoe’s music therapist. Through music, compassion and dedication, Regina has made a lasting difference to Zoe and her family’s journey.

It was especially wonderful to see Zoe's family (who nominated Regina) attend the award presentation and celebrate this well-deserved achievement with her. Congratulations once again, Regina🩵

Last month, we were delighted to welcome supporters and members of the community to Shooting Star House for our Open Day.

One of the highlights of the day was having two of our Family Support Workers, Vikki and Annie, showcase our memory making activities and share how these precious moments help families create lasting memories together. Visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the thoughtful and personalised ways we support families, from creative keepsakes to meaningful experiences that can be treasured for years to come.

Last month, Justin from one of our wonderful corporate partners, Area, and a small team of veterans walked from the north coast of Devon to the south, through Exmoor and Dartmoor, totalling 70 miles in just 24 hours.

So far, they have raised an incredible £1,249, surpassing their £1,000 target. A huge well done to everyone who took on this immense challenge - we couldn't be more grateful💪🩵

Today, on National Bereaved Parents Day, our thoughts are with every parent, family member and loved one remembering a child who has died🩵

Shooting Star currently support 530 families whose child has died, and we deliver 800 therapy sessions for children, parents and grandparents every month. Our therapy interventions reduce parents' symptoms of anxiety and PTSD and their psychological distress. Good bereavement care saves lives.

✨We could turn your unwanted craft materials into cash✨

We're running low on craft materials to sell at local fairs! If you have unwanted new/used craft materials that you don't know what to do with, why not donate them to us so one of our wonderful volunteers can sell them, all in aid of Shooting Star.

We'll accept items such as fabrics, embroidery wool, paper craft, craft kits and any other materials you're no longer using.
