Funk, house, techno... and fundraising for Music of Life! 🎧🎶
We’re incredibly grateful to the team at Logic Planning, who are hosting a special evening of music in support of Music of Life later this month.

On Wednesday 21 October, their team will be behind the decks at The Betsey Trotwood in Farringdon, for an evening of funk, house and techno, with 100% of proceeds donated to Music of Life.

Music of Life has 5 charity places available for the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2027 and we’d love you to join our team!

Take on an amazing challenge through the streets of London while raising funds to help disabled and Deaf children and young people access music education and opportunities.

🏃 Runners must be 17+ on race day

We have some very exciting news! Music of Life is a finalist in two categories at the Music & Drama Education Awards 2027!

🎶 Our Choirs in Special Schools programme is a finalist for Excellence in SEND (Music & Drama).

💜 Our Music for Deaf Children programme is a finalist for The Rocksteady Music School Award for Progressive and Inclusive Musical Education.

We’re so proud to see both programmes recognised in this way. Most importantly, it celebrates the achievements of the wonderful children and young people we work with, alongside the dedication of our musicians, teachers, schools and everyone who helps make our work possible.

The awards take place in February 2027, so keep your fingers crossed for us! 🤞

Music & Drama Education Expo

Talent is everywhere. Opportunity isn’t.
For many disabled children and young people, accessing regular, high-quality music tuition can be incredibly difficult.

Our Individual Lessons programme is helping to change that.

Our specialist teachers work one-to-one with students in special schools, adapting lessons around each young person so they have the opportunity to learn an instrument, develop their musical ability and progress at their own pace.

Last year alone, we delivered over 4,660 individual lessons to 146 young people across 26 special schools.

That’s thousands of opportunities for young people to develop their skills, grow in confidence, express themselves and discover what they can achieve.

Every young person with a passion for music deserves the chance to develop it.

🥁 We couldn’t resist sharing some of our favourite moments from Barney’s speech at the Houses of Parliament, with Speakers Trust!

From drumming to open and close his speech, to making the room laugh and sharing his ambition to one day work in the music service, Barney brought so much confidence, humour and personality to the occasion.

We are so proud of how far Barney has come and of the young man and musician he is becoming. Seeing him stand up and share his story in such an incredible setting was a very special moment for everyone at Music of Life.

Meet Ruth Montgomery, Miriam Dubois and Rachel Edmonds, who bring their talent, experience and passion to our Music for Deaf Children programme, helping Deaf children enjoy music, develop their skills and learn from Deaf role models.

A huge congratulations to our brilliant Young Leader, Barney! 🌟

This week, Barney had the incredible opportunity to speak at the Houses of Parliament as part of Speakers Trust's My Maiden Speech, which gives young people the chance to speak about something that matters deeply to them.

After taking part in workshops throughout the summer, Barney took to the stage to speak about opportunities for people with learning disabilities as they enter adulthood, including the importance of meaningful employment and being recognised for what they can contribute.

He also made an entrance nobody was going to forget, drumming his way to the stage and getting everyone clapping and stamping along with him! 🥁👏

We couldn’t be prouder of Barney and everything he has achieved.

A huge thank you to Speakers Trust for this wonderful opportunity, and to Barney’s family for supporting him every step of the way.

Meet Islarose🎶 “She could sing before she could talk.”

Music has always been a huge part of Islarose’s life. Through our Choirs in Special Schools programme, she has found a space where she can express herself, build her confidence and, most importantly, have fun!

From singing in weekly sessions to proudly taking the lead at performances, it has been wonderful to see Islarose’s confidence grow.
