💚It’s CCR’s £1 Wednesday! 💚

Could you spare £1 today to help a cat in need?

PP: [email protected]

Our wonderful monthly sponsors help us cover the basics of keeping our cats fed, sheltered and cared for, but rescue comes with so many additional costs and these are often covered by the CCR team themselves.

From veterinary care and medication to specialist treatment, prescription diets, spaying and neutering, every little donation makes a difference. ❤️

This week, we’re raising money to help cover flea and worming treatment for some of our cats.

At just £2 per cat, our goal is to raise enough to treat at least 30 cats. That’s £60 to help keep our cats protected and comfortable.

If you can donate just £1 today, we’d be incredibly grateful. And if you can’t donate, sharing this post can help us reach someone who can!

Every pound really does help. Thank you for supporting CCR and the cats in our care!

🥜 Transformation Tuesday: Peanut! 🥜

Just look at our gorgeous Peanut!

Peanut’s story began when he was rescued as a tiny, vulnerable kitten from the streets of Cairo by CCR’s Randa. He was in desperate need of help, but thankfully he was brought to the clinic where he received the treatment and care he needed to recover!

Fast forward to today and what a transformation! We couldn’t be prouder of him!

Peanut has grown into a wonderful little boy with a BIG personality and an even bigger love for his humans! He’s such a character, and one of our favourite things about him is his adorable habit of wagging his tail when he gets excited!

From a tiny kitten needing someone to save him, to the handsome, happy boy he is today, this is exactly why our rescue mission matters 🥹

Peanut is STILL available for adoption, he has been waiting a long time for his forever home 🤞🏻 so fingers crossed we find his family soon.

ALL of our cats come with the “Adoption package” so are:

🐾💕 MEET ME MONDAY: OLIVE 💕🐾

Hi everyone! My name is Olive 🫒

I’m a little bit different from some of the other cats you’ll meet here. I’m a three legged girl, but I promise that doesn’t stop me from getting on with life!

My story started on the streets, where I was part of a stray colony. I was taken to the clinic after I was found with an infected bite wound, and that’s when they discovered that my front leg had been badly damaged by an old fracture. Unfortunately, it had healed in the wrong position!

After everything I’d already been through, the wonderful people caring for me decided that I deserved the chance to live comfortably, so my damaged leg was amputated.

Learning to be a tripod wasn’t always easy, but I am one very resilient little lady! For a long time, I had to concentrate on simply surviving. NOW I’m finally learning that life can be about so much more than suffering 🥹

I’ve even discovered that PLAYTIME IS AWESOME! Okay… I may only have one front arm, but that hasn’t stopped me yet! I love playing so much, I have become quite the athlete 😁

I love having my head scratched, rubbing myself all over my favourite humans and getting lots of attention. I’m also very friendly and gentle, and I get along wonderfully with other cats and cat friendly dogs. I even have a particular weakness for creamy cat treats they are irresistible 🫣

These days, I’m ready for something I’ve never had before… A FOREVER HOME, I’m told it is a magical place where I will be loved for ever and ever!

I’m looking for someone who will love me exactly as I am, appreciate my quirky little tripod self and show me that I never have to fight to survive again. And yes… I come with 25% fewer claws to trim and at least 200% extra charm!

Love,
Olive 💕

P.S all my friends and I, come with the “Adoption package” so we are:

🐾 THE C.C.R. WEEKLY CAT REPORT! 🐾

This week, we have a very special situation…

NICE CAT OF THE WEEK: PANDA!

Panda has been taking her medication without so much as a fuss and being an absolute superstar about it. What a good girl! 💕👏

…There’s just one tiny problem.

NAUGHTY CAT OF THE WEEK: ALSO PANDA! 😂

Because Panda is, in fact, taking that medication because she bit her own foot and managed to cause herself enough trouble to end up needing treatment AND a cone of shame 🫣

So, Panda has been awarded Nice Cat of the Week for being extremely well behaved while dealing with the consequences of being Naughty Cat of the Week!

We really can’t decide whether to praise her or tell her off!

Well done, Panda… I guess… 🫣

BACKGROUND
TW: ANIMAL CRUELTY
Cindy was a stray mother who was being fed by a friend of CCR’s Inas. One day, she found her unable to walk and severely hypothermic. Cindy was rushed to the vets, where they discovered that she had suffered multiple pelvic fractures, initially believed to have been caused by being hit by a car. But the truth was even more heartbreaking. It was later discovered that a person had killed all of Cindy’s kittens and was also responsible for hurting Cindy and breaking her bones.

Despite everything that had been done to her, Cindy fought incredibly hard to recover. With strict cage rest, constant monitoring and care from a highly specialised veterinary team, her fractures were given the chance to heal properly. Slowly, Cindy learnt to walk again, and today she has made a full recovery with no lasting damage affecting her mobility.

The most beautiful thing about Cindy is that none of this has taken away her sweetness. She is an incredibly loving little girl who simply wants to be close to her humans, curl up on the sofa and finally experience the gentle, safe life she should have had all along.

Cindy is SO ready for the part of her story that matters most, finding a family of her very own, where she will be protected, cherished and loved for the rest of her life.

This weeks topic: LET’S TALK FeLV!

FeLV+ does NOT mean “sick cat” or “death sentence.”

Feline Leukemia Virus is one of those things that can sound absolutely TRRRAFYING when you first hear it, but there are a LOT of misconceptions surrounding FeLV+ cats.

FeLV+ cats aren’t necessarily sick.
Many cats can look and feel perfectly well for long periods of time. FeLV infections can behave differently in different cats, & some cats develop regressive infections where the virus is no longer actively replicating!

FeLV isn’t contagious to humans or dogs.
FeLV is a feline virus. It spreads between cats primarily through close contact, including mutual grooming, bites and shared resources.

FeLV+ cats aren’t automatically required to live alone. FeLV+ cats can happily live with other FeLV positive cats. With FeLV-negative cats, however, there is a transmission risk, so household arrangements should be discussed with your vet 💕

They still deserve a normal cat life!
Good nutrition, regular veterinary care, monitoring for changes in health and keeping them protected from unnecessary infectious exposure are all important.

And perhaps the biggest myth of all…

FeLV+ cats are absolutely worthy of love, homes and families.

A positive test doesn’t erase their personality, their ability to enjoy life, or all the cuddles, zoomies, mischief and companionship they have to give.

There are so many wonderful FeLV+ cats waiting for somebody to look past those two little letters and see THE CAT.

Let’s end the stigma together 🤞🏻💕

🌹ROSIE FOR ADOPTION🌹- Pretty little Rosie for re-adoption 🤞🏻

BACKGROUND
Rosie was first spotted while CCR’s Moka was feeding some stray colony cats. It was the very first time she had ever seen her. Rosie had almost no fur, was painfully thin, and was clearly terrified of the other cats around her. Seeing how frightened she was, Moka tried to encourage Rosie to come and eat separately, but instead, another colony cats approached and began attacking her. Rather than fight back, Rosie simply rolled onto her back & surrendered, as if she had already accepted that she wasn’t strong enough to fight and accepting the attack. Moka knew she couldn’t leave her there, so she picked Rosie up and carried her home, with Rosie gazing at her the whole way as though she couldn’t quite believe someone had chosen to help her.

Once safe, Rosie began treatment. She was suffering from severe anaemia and blood parasites and was so weak that even walking took enormous effort. But slowly, with care, good food and love, she regained her strength. Today, Rosie is healthy, and deeply loved. In fact, she has become one of the cats closest to Moka’s heart. Rosie is simply one of the sweetest cats you could ever hope to meet. Gentle, affectionate and endlessly kind, she greets the world with a softness that somehow survived everything she went through. Everyone who meets her falls in love with her, and we have a feeling her future family will too.
