We’re excited to be part of the Thames Path 30th Anniversary Relay Walk 🎉🚶‍♂️

From 5–28 June, walkers will cover the full path from the source near Kemble to Woolwich, celebrating 30 years of the Thames Path National Trail. This is a shared relay in collaboration with Drinkable Rivers, including the Mayors for a Drinkable Thames network—a coalition of boroughs, mayors, councillors, and river champions committed to restoring the Thames to drinkable quality.

Thames Landscape Strategy is delighted to be leading two sections of the walk:
📍 23 June – Walton to Kingston
📍 24 June – Kingston to Kew

Each day’s walk offers a fantastic chance to explore the Thames Path, meet fellow walkers, and support a healthier, more vibrant River Thames.

We hope you will join us - more details coming soon.

Two weeks to go until our first Balsam Bash of the season, celebrating Thames21 London Rivers Week 2026 🌿🌊

Join us on 26 May at Ham Street, Richmond for a hands-on session helping to protect the riverside by tackling Himalayan balsam and giving native plants space to thrive. It’s a great way to spend time outdoors, meet others, and make a real difference for the River Thames.

Everyone welcome – no experience needed. Hope to see you there!🦆🌸

Looking for a hands-on way to give back to nature during London Rivers Week? 😉

👉Join Thames Landscape Strategy on the 26th May at Ham Street, Richmond, for a Balsam Bash session.

🌺We’ll be working together along the riverside to tackle Himalayan Balsam, an invasive species that grows rapidly and outcompetes our native plants for space, light, and nutrients.

🤝Everyone is welcome; no prior experience needed.

A huge thank you to Historic Royal Palaces for hosting our first bat walk of the season at Home Park on Tuesday! 🦇

It was a brilliant setting for a bat walk and we couldn't have asked for better conditions. We were rewarded with sightings of four different bat species, which is always exciting, and a big thank you to everyone who joined us!

We've got more guided bat walks coming up soon, including another one at Home Park. If you missed this one, or just want more bats, come along to learn more about these elusive mammals: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/44415425753?

As the days get longer and evenings warmer, we're excited to be heading into a new season of walks and activities across the Thames Landscape.

One of our spring highlights is our guided bat walks - a chance to discover the incredible bats that live and feed along the river corridor and nearby green spaces. Using bat detectors, we'll explore at dusk and learn how these fascinating (and often misunderstood) mammals depend on healthy landscapes to thrive.

A fantastic day of willow spiling along Kew towpath!

It was a muddy effort but together we worked to strengthen the riverbank, reduce erosion and create a better habitat for wildlife. We’ll be back again next Tuesday - come join us to get stuck in and learn more about this traditional conservation method!
