The Merton Memory Hub team attended Merton's first ever Pride Parade this Saturday! It was a lovely route from Morden Hall National Trust Park, past Deen City Farm and down the river Wandle. We joined a number of local organisations including MDAA members and hosts Morden Hall Park NT, Deen City Farm & Riding School and Merton Centre for Independent Living- It was great to see that despite it being the first ever one, hundreds of people attended! Thanks to all Merton Dementia Action Alliance Members for your active engagement during Dementia Action Week 2025.

There were inspiring events across the borough, including wellbeing events for carers at Queens Court Care Home, Dementia Friends Talks including at Age UK Merton and Eastways Day Centre, Alzheimer’s society Merton Memory Hub hosted a special reminiscence session with Merton Heritage, and ran stalls in two hospitals and in two busy shopping areas- We also visited AFC Wimbledon’s exercise group, led with some well-known songs at Merton & Morden Guild’s special DAW sing-along event, and ran a book display competition across all of Merton’s libraries! Merton Civic Centre hosted a joint talk from Isabelle Bogdanovic, Dementia Nurse from SWL ICB, and Natalie Parsons from Alzheimer’s Society, giving real-life examples of how well-researched tools and support can have a huge impact on people’s lives and ability to live day-today with dementia.

Thanks as well to the numerous organisations who shared messaging through their newsletters and social media. Francis Grove Surgery even did a Dementia Action Week website takeover! Thanks to everyone involved for helping to pull off a fantastic and energetic week of awareness, visibility, prevention messaging and support! We’d love to hear your ideas about places we can raise awareness, or events you’d like to see at the next Dementia Action Week (or before!).
