Wishing you a happy and prosperous new year from us all at Health Poverty Action.
There’s still time to support our ‘A World on the Move’ appeal and help address some of the real issues around migration globally, from supporting families displaced by conflict to ensuring that migrant workers can access healthcare.

One factor that drives mass migration, whether internally or internationally, is conflict. In many of the communities where we work, we see how conflict causes families to lose their homes, livelihoods and possessions.
Please give whatever you can to our ‘A World on the Move’ appeal and help build healthier, more prosperous communities, wherever people settle.

Fighting along the Thailand–Cambodia border continues, and more families are arriving daily at displacement sites in northwest Cambodia.

Frontline doctors supported by Health Poverty Action report critical shortages of clean water, food and basic medicines. Families at the camp are collecting water from ponds and leaving it in the sun, hoping it is safe enough to drink.

Children, including infants, are among those most at risk, facing heat, unsafe water and mosquito-borne diseases.

We are scaling up our emergency response, but urgent support is needed.
Please donate if you can and help families stay safe and healthy. https://www.healthpovertyaction.org/take-action-now/urgent-cambodia-displaced-conflict/

Since the 7th of December, renewed fighting along the Cambodia–Thailand border has forced tens of thousands of people to flee their homes in northwest .

Health Poverty Action is responding in Takong commune, Malai district, Banteay Meanchey, where more than 6,000 people were already sheltering before the latest escalation (yesterday, 18th of December). This area has received limited assistance compared to other locations, and basic needs remain unmet.

Children make up a significant proportion of those displaced, including infants who urgently need safe nutrition, clean water and medical care. Hot weather and unsafe water sources are increasing the risk of water- and mosquito-borne diseases.

We are supporting frontline doctors and local clinics to respond to urgent health needs.

What do YOU think about migration?

As our 'A World on the Move' appeal looks at the impact of migration on communities globally, we're keen to understand what people think about migration.

Please complete our short survey here:

Many migrants move internationally, or from rural to urban areas, seeking employment or following family members. This shift often exposes them to precarity: insecure jobs, low wages, inadequate housing, and limited access to health and other services. Women working in informal sectors are at even greater risk of harassment, discrimination, and gender-based violence.

We are working with partners in Cambodia and Zimbabwe to research how gender-based violence and precarity affect migrant communities' mental health; and to create practical, community-led solutions to poor mental health.

Internal displacement doesn’t always make headlines, but it reshapes millions of lives.

Across the countries where we work, people are being forced to leave their homes because of conflict, climate change, poverty, and natural disasters. Many end up in Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps where access to safe housing, clean water, food, and healthcare is often limited.

We work alongside these communities to provide healthcare and essential support, helping families regain a sense of stability and dignity.

Please give whatever you can today. Your support helps displaced families move forward together.
