Our biggest thank you of them all goes to Jay Heryet () who is the powerhouse behind the Emerging Turners Programme and without her dedication and organisation none of it would be possible. Seen in these two pictures helping and guiding students on the last weekend event.

We had the company of Peter Bradwick over the Emerging Turners weekend. Peter was there officially as a representative of the .company.of.london who support the ETP both financially and in other less tangible ways too. Peter was able to see what goes on at the events and use his own considerable turning knowledge to help out the students and support around the workshop. Peter has also long been involved in the youth training scheme so had lots of experience with supporting young turners.

A special thank you goes out to our (un)official photographer Nathan Savory. This was his third year on the Programme and has now become a member of the RPT, and is earning his living through a combination of woodturning and photography. Every picture you will have seen from the weekend was taken by Nathan, so it is all down to him that the ETP weekends have been so well recorded. If you need professional photography doing, particularly of your turning or woodworking projects, Nathan’s knowledge of both areas makes him well worth contacting. and were our lead tutors over the Emerging Turners weekend but we need to say a special thank you to , not only for the support he gave to the tutors and the students and for the light comic relief he naturally supplies but also for being an important link between us and who kindly hosted the event. Without Dan’s communications and hands-on approach to helping organise the event it simply wouldn’t have been possible or as successful as it was. Thanks Dan!

A selection of pictures from Day 2 of the Emerging Turners Programme event (this was Saturday so we’re a little behind!) The day started with a talk by Terry from about all things finishing with lots of useful tips on achieving the best possible finish to work. After lunch gave a demo on using wet wood and rough turning before our students went to their lathes and made lots (and lots) of wet shavings. We hope to be able to share some of the finished bowls when they are dried and finish turned in a few months time!
