FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE ST LUCIAN ASSOCIATION OF LONDON (1963)
It is with deep sadness that we receive the news of the passing of Mr Everist JnMarie.
Mr Jn Marie was a former member of this Association through the 1990s, and should be remembered as a passionate advocate for the advancement of St Lucian heritage, culture and development especially through the young generation of St Lucians living in the UK. His advocacy resulted in the creation of the New Generation of the St Lucia Association of London in 1993, of which he was the founding Chairman. To his friends and peers in London and the UK he will be remembered for his love of football, delicate humour, steadfastness and wise counsel.
Mr Jn Marie returned to St Lucia in the late 1990s, where he became a highly successful and prominent businessman firstly through his leadership of the family businesses - Jn Marie & Sons and President of the Saint Lucia Petroleum Dealers Association; and through his dedicated service to many public institutions including as Deputy President of the St Lucia Senate, Chairman of the National Insurance Corporation, Chairman of the Bank of St Lucia, and Board Member of the East Caribbean Financial Holding Company.
We have lost a wonderful and true son of St Lucia - may he rest in peace.
The Association extends our sincere condolences to Mrs Linda Jn Marie and family, and to his wider family the UK and St Lucia.
