๐จ๐ญ Sasso Corbaro Castle .
Named so because located on a rock as dark as the feathers of crows, it is a typical Sforza fortress, whose walls are reduced to the essentiality of a geometric figure. In the square courtyard closed between high walls, the keep and the lookout tower are grafted.
It is the only one of the 3 castles to have a precise construction date: 1479. It was built in just over 6 months by the Sforza architect Benedetto Ferrini, to complete the defensive barrier to prevent the passage of the Confederates towards Milan. During the Swiss domination it was called Unterwalden Castle and in 1818 Santa Barbara Castle. Sold in 1870 to a company that wanted to transform it into a hotel, it was later rented to Bellinzonese families as a summer residence. The restoration interventions (2004-2006) directed by the architect Paola Piffaretti have allowed to maximize the potential offered by the manor, its usability and with a careful look at the landscape, to restore the network of paths in the surrounding nature.
