What really drives a successful procurement negotiation?

It is rarely about simply pushing for the lowest price. Strong outcomes are built on preparation, understanding where leverage sits, knowing what can be traded, and looking at value beyond headline cost.

In our latest supporter member article series, Procure4 looks at what separates an average negotiation from an exceptional one, including why much of the real work happens before anyone enters the room.

A useful read for care providers looking to strengthen their approach to procurement, supplier relationships and commercial decision-making.

Should every resident be disturbed because the clock says it is time for a check?

Care England’s Modernising Night-Time Care report sets out the case for moving from routine room entries to needs-led monitoring guided by human judgement.

The aim is not less care. It is better sleep, more timely support and a more proportionate use of staff attention.

Senior care-provider leaders can now see the WCS model in operation during a free evening visit in Warwickshire, including the UK’s first centralised monitoring hub. Places are limited.

📢 International workers, visas and sponsorship: this is an issue care providers cannot afford to ignore.

The rules around international recruitment and sponsorship are complex, and getting things wrong can have serious consequences for care providers.

🎥 Watch our latest video featuring Professor Martin Green, OBE, in conversation with Kashif Majeed, discussing the challenges around international workers and visa issues.

🔔 We’re live: Small Changes. Big Difference.

Today, Care England and Engage are launching a new national campaign to improve hearing support for people living in care homes.

Around 90% of care home residents live with some degree of hearing loss, yet too many people are still going without the practical support they need.

Small Changes. Big Difference. is about changing that.

Over the coming months, we will be sharing practical resources, webinars, expert insight and tools to help care teams make simple changes that can have a real impact on residents’ communication, confidence, wellbeing and quality of life.

The campaign will build towards a major national event in London on 17 November 2026, bringing together leaders from across adult social care to share learning and drive lasting change.

Small changes to everyday care can make a big difference.

The legal framework for determining a deprivation of liberty has changed. Is your organisation ready?

Following the Supreme Court’s landmark decision to move away from the established Cheshire West ‘acid test’, social care providers must understand what the new approach means for their staff, care planning, existing authorisations and regulatory compliance.

Join Care England for a practical webinar covering:

• What may now constitute a deprivation of liberty
• How to review existing authorisations, policies and care plans
• Strengthening mental capacity and best interests documentation
• Preparing clear evidence of compliance for CQC

"I've started to struggle with social anxiety."

A common, yet pernicious, effect of the menopause is the making smaller of social lives. This can be due to fatigue or lack of energy, but often this is down to social anxiety, even with people you have known for years. With women making up the majority of both the workforce and service users, creating supportive and inclusive workplaces and services is essential for wellbeing and high-quality care.

Care England is launching a new series of articles exploring the menopause and its impact on the adult social care sector. These articles accompany the webinars released last year hosted by Diane Danzebrink from Menopause Support and Care England's Richard Ayres.
