🎶 to this Summer's Essex ActivAte Sessions! 🎶

One of our favourite moments from this Summer was seeing a song come to life during one of our music, arts & dance sessions.

The song was composed by one of the young people attending the session, using their interests, alongside Music Therapist Jess and our brilliant volunteers - Meg and Miles. 🎹

They told us they’d never really played an instrument before, but you’d never have guessed it! They were a natural on the keys. 🌟

Moments like this are exactly why we love our Essex Activate sessions. Seeing young people create something that’s completely their own, then share it with the group, is pretty special.

We had such a brilliant time at Essex ActivAte this summer. 🙌

🎵 There's still time to join our FREE online Short Breaks groups!

This week, it’s Music Lab with Jess! 🎧

📅 Thursday | 4-5pm | Online via Microsoft Teams

Come along and get creative with beats, songwriting, sound effects, contemporary music and GarageBand. There are lots of ways to join in, whether you’re musical already or completely new to it!

And don’t forget, Sounds & Stories with Saskia is back on Friday 2 October, 4-5pm. 🍂 Expect seasonal sounds, stories, vocal games, gentle movement and more.

💻 Both groups are free for disabled children and young people in Essex with an Essex Short Breaks code.

We’re delighted to be heading to London for the TES SEND Show on 9-10 October 2026.

🎵 FREE WIGGLES & JIGGLES GROUP FOR MUMS & BABIES 👶

Our next 6-week Wiggles & Jiggles group starts next week in Chelmsford!

Designed for babies 12 weeks to pre-crawling, these gentle sessions combine live music, movement and baby massage to support your baby’s development and help build those all-important early bonds. ❤️

But Wiggles & Jiggles is also about you, Mum.

The early months can feel lonely and overwhelming, particularly for mums experiencing postnatal depression (PND). Music and shared activities can provide opportunities to connect, express emotions, improve mood and strengthen interactions between you and your baby, while meeting other mums who may be going through similar experiences.

🎶 Led by Amelia, HCPC Registered Music Therapist, and Natalie, Paediatric Physiotherapist

Join Jess for her fun and interactive Music Lab sessions - exploring beats, songwriting, sound effects and contemporary pop and rock music. Using creative tools like GarageBand, you'll make music together in a relaxed, SEN-friendly space with opportunities for both verbal and non-verbal participation.

☀️🎶 What a summer it's been! 🎶☀️

And just like that, our Essex Activate summer sessions have come to an end!

We've had such a fantastic few weeks filled with music, creativity, movement, laughter and plenty of opportunities for children and young people to express themselves in their own way. From making music and exploring instruments to arts and crafts, dance, mindfulness, games and so much more, it's been wonderful to see everyone getting stuck in and making the sessions their own.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this Summer possible:

🎵 Our brilliant team of Music Therapists, Community Musicians and Food Assistants, for bringing so much creativity, energy and care to every session.

🙌 Our amazing volunteers, who helped everything run smoothly and brought their own enthusiasm to the sessions.

❤️ All the children and young people who came along and made the summer what it was. Thank you for your creativity, enthusiasm and willingness to get involved!

🏡 Langton Hall / 8th Chelmsford Scouts, for welcoming us into your wonderful space throughout the summer.

And a huge thank you to Essex County Council, Holiday Food and Activities and the Department for Education for the funding and support that made these sessions possible.

We're so proud of what we've created together and incredibly grateful to everyone who has been part of our Essex Activate Summer. ❤️

We had a FANTASTIC day at yesterday .uk .

Thank you to Kerry for inviting us and thanks to everyone who popped down to say hello and find out about music therapy.
