Each of the Maritime Academy Trust schools we work with has a Community Ambassador, and this term they’re starting a listening campaign to find out what really matters to the children, families and communities around their schools.

By listening to people’s experiences, ideas and what they feel would make a difference, our Community Ambassadors can help strengthen connections and support positive change within their communities.

Because when people have a chance to be heard, we can work together to make a difference.

Our Strong Foundations Stay and Play sessions are taking place at our Maritime schools, giving young children a chance to play, explore and make new friends, while parents and carers can meet other families and build connections too.

These relaxed sessions are a great way to connect with your school community, share experiences and find support.

It was so good to see so many familiar faces returning, as well as welcoming some new children to Skills Academy for the first time.

From sports, art and drama to cooking and robotics, there was lots happening! It’s always great to see the children trying new things, developing their skills, building confidence and most importantly, having fun.

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone again over the coming weeks and welcoming even more new faces along the way!

A new school year brings new beginnings. For some children, it’s an exciting time. For others, starting school can feel a little daunting.

Through our Strong Foundations programme, we work alongside families and schools to help young children build confidence, develop friendships and learn the skills they need to feel ready for school.

Because those early experiences matter.

When children feel confident, supported and ready to learn, they have a stronger foundation for everything that comes next.

As we get ready to welcome children and families back next week, teachers and support staff across Maritime Academy Trust schools have been out on home visits, taking the time to reconnect before the new term begins.

These visits are an important part of how we work. They provide an opportunity to check in with families, answer questions, ease worries and help children feel ready for a positive return to school. Building strong relationships starts long before the classroom door opens.
