Today our P&F team Kylie and Kim supported by the 1st Lt Donna and our amazing volunteers put on a fabulous Summer BBq, I would like to thank you all for your hard work as it takes a lot to put on a seamless event like this, well done.

We also had the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers join us as we took delivery of their ceremonial skiff which members of the company rowed up from Teddington Lock and signalled the start of an affiliation.

Thank you to all the parents and guests who attended and were able to take full
advantage of the weather and location.

Thank you.

🍔⚓ BBQ Muster! ⚓🌭

Attention, shipmates! 🫡

Next Sunday we're dropping anchor, firing up the grill, and putting the "sea" in seasoning! 🌊🔥

Join us for a BBQ packed with great food, laughs, and enough burgers to keep even the hungriest cadet off emergency rations. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or just here to inspect the sausages, everyone's welcome!

Come aboard, bring your appetite, and don't be late... because the only thing worse than swabbing the deck is missing the once in a lifetime opportunity to SOAK THE CO!! 😄💦 There will be fabulous live music from Teddington's 42nd Street Dance band. This is all in aid of our Volunteers winning the King's Award for Voluntary Service (equivalent to an MBE 🏅)
Twickenham Unit thrives today because of many many years of hard work and pure dedication from hundreds of volunteers over the years since Twickenham first begun, some that have gone before us ❤️ and those who have left to pursue a different path - We wouldn't be where we are today without every single volunteer that has stepped through the front gate.

📅 Next Sunday

I have great pleasure to announce that our Training Officer Gaby Nagy has been confirmed in the rank of Petty Officer. PO Nagy has been an adult volunteer since 2022 transitioning from a cadet to CFAV when she took the role of Training Officer and did a fabulous job combining university and looking after the training needs of the cadets.

Thank you

Thank you to my 1st Lt for holding the fort and staff who helped repel boarders ensuring the cadets continued to get a great experience. Congratulations to POC Phoebe who passed her promotion board on Sunday and I was able to present her with her ranks slides last night, the gold badges will be following shortly. Well done to her and my thanks to the staff who helped prepare her for the event.

On Thursday Twickenham Unit lost a very close friend and supporter of the unit our love and support go out to the family. The whole team is devastated by the loss but we will be there to support staff directly affected.

From a wet Austria. Well done to our crews who really put the effort in Sunday. Thank you to all the cadets who helped London Western District bring home some fabulous awards , the result of hard work and commitment. Thank you to all the staff who helped coach and train the cadets as without you and your continued effort and commitment these opportunities would not happen.

Lots happening with boating, parading, awards and community engagement. On Tuesday was the last uniformed parade for AC Kiyaan who aged out 1 July having spent over 4 years with us. I will be sorry to see him leave but is a big wide world out there. POC Lacy received her Deputy Lieutenants Certificate. On Wed 1st July which was Canada Day we took part in a small ceremony of Remembrance at St James Church Hampton Hill for service personnel from Canada who lost their lives in the First World War.

On Tuesday we also welcomed two new members to the ships company they seemed to enjoy their first parade with us and appeared hungry to experience more.

Good luck to the crews representing the District at this weekends Area Regatta, do you your best and have a great time. Remember to bring a hat, water, sunscreen and a huge tub of enthusiasm.

Lots happening over the last two weeks with a great showing at the London Western District Paddle Sports and Rowing Regattas. Cadets and staff attending Trooping the Colour and had first class seats for the RAF Fly Past. Last Sunday we continue to host Kingston for on the water activities and I hear that they had a great time. We also had cadets on TS Royalist and I would encourage every cadet to sign up for a voyage.
We also had a staff member who competed in the Red Bull Soap Box Challenge, i feel a project developing!!

On Tuesday, Divisions night was attended by our Unit President Sir Adrian Johns, Deputy Lieutenants Gillian Norton and Debbie Wilkinson.

Sir Adrian did a sterling job presenting awards and promotions and was great to see him engaging with the cadets and to have him on onboard, we look forward to seeing him later in the year.

TS Saumarez was awarded the Kings Award for Voluntary Service this year, the equivalent to an MBE for a voluntary organisation. I had the honour of Hosting DL Gillian Norton who presented the award and DL Debbie Wilkinson who visited the unit last year to assess the unit and complete the nomination on behalf of King Charles.

This award is the result of hard work by volunteers over many years many of whom are no longer with us and I was honoured to receive the ward on behalf of my current team but also on behalf of those who have gone before us.

Thank you
