—- My family owns a piece of land, approximated at 8.1 hectares. This is fertile land that is 100% arable. It used to bring substantial produce 20+ years ago when my region still received adequate rainfall, but has since gone barren like a desert. I wish to bring this land back to life again. If I am successful in gaining your support in this project, I plan to create a self-sustaining crop and vegetable farm that would bring a produce that can be shared with the many families that are in dire need of food.

The funds would go into four main activities:
1. Drill a borehole in the farm and install a solar powered pump, which is an environmentally viable option.
2. Install a drip irrigation system which is also environmentally viable as it saves water and soil nutrients.
3. Secure the land by fencing (this is important as it prevents animals, including livestock, from destroying what is being grown).
4. Install a maize milling/grinding machine (maize will be the main crop grown as it is the staple food. The mill will process the grain into the final product known as maize meal). As part of the self-sustaining plan, this mill will also service external customers who would like to process their maize grain at a fee. Proceeds collected would in turn be used in land preparation, fertilizer, transport etc. in the long run. However, this is not a priority in the project and can be done without. —-
